![]() Topeak Panoram V12 12 Function Wireless Cycle Computer By: Topeak Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 5 More Information Just what he wanted This little wireless computer has all the bells and whistles to help my husband optimize his bike trip to and from work every day. He loves to check average speed, fuel economy, and the like on his cars computer, and now he can do it on his bike too. Tie strap is worthless!!! It might be a nice computer but the specialized tie strap that holds the magnetic pick up is unbelievably brittle. It snapped into pieces when I tried to attach it to my bike. This is a manufacturers defect. Dont waste your time buying this, you will just have to return it. Everything I want to know mid-ride on the main screen. Any basic cycling computer is fine so long as it tells you your current speed, average and max speed, odometer, current ride distance, and ride time (which they all do). But I had a new bike and thought Id spend a bit more on this fancy cycling computer instead using the one from my other bike. Glad I did. I most like the fact that without having to press any buttons, I can see my speed, distance, and time--both the clock and ride time. No other cyclocomputer Ive owned or seen provides this much information on the main display; usually I would have to switch screens. Also unique amongst cycling computers Ive used or know of is that this one can be mounted over the stem--in the middle of the bar--leaving room for other things like lights, GPS, and whatever else you might attach to your handlebar. Add that Toppeaks warranty is for five years--at least it was on my purchase--so if the computer malfunctions you can bring it to any authorized dealer and have it replaced with a new one for free. Turning on the light is a one-button operation and just a click instead of a click and hold of two buttons (as on other cyclocomputers Ive used). So you can reach for the computer, light it, look down quickly, and see what you were looking for on the big display at a glance. Though many will complain that its hard to change settings with the three buttons the Panoram features, trust me when I say its a lot harder with other cycling computers which have only one or two buttons max. The Toppeak is actually easier to change settings on than others. CON (not really a con): You can get a basic cycling computer like the CatEye Enduro for less which will provide the same information. While the Panoram is very nice, dont feel like you really need to spend more than $35 on a bike computer. With the Panoram youre paying extra for features which are simply nicer those on cheaper models, but not actually getting additional functionality. For more money, you can get a cycling computer with added features like heart rate, calories burned, and cadence but be advised that those are extras that you will most likely find you never needed for more than curiositys sake afterwards. Love those huge displays and readout BUT So, they lost a star: The little screw works its way loose, and the piece came crashing to the ground -- I fixed the loosening screw problem with a little athletic tape. The three pieces of info in the display are really awesome, plus the average times and whatnot are one button away while youre riding, which is very convenient. The display is huge -- I havent seen anything like it. Plus the unit is really sort of super functional and makes the bike feel dialed. It does reset at 999, but the whole unit takes like three minutes to set up. The directions are basically without words, just pictures, so that I guess martians can understand them (but they must have college degrees). Im really happy with it, and would buy it again, but cover that screwhead! Topeak Not have BACKLIGHT...........is very important for me,for the rest is a good product, menu is jerky. Topeak Panoram V12 by: jxk805 On: 2006-11-16 This unit is wireless and has worked well. I bought this unit because I thought it had a larger display than other units on the market and I am not disapointed. It is easy to install. However, my only complaint is the difficulty (for me, maybe not for others) is the steps required to change modes, etc.I cant remember all of the steps and have to refer to the instructions. Hard to do when riding. Topeak Panoram V12 by: jxk805 On: 2006-11-15 This unit is wireless and has worked well.
