this fender could barely support its own weight, often dropping and scraping the top of my rear tire almost like a baseball in the spokes of a bike. when it wasnt moving out of position vertically, it would rotate laterally & scrape the sides of my rear tire. fastens to the frame well enough not to fall off (which would have been desirable) but not well enough to stay in position. i bought a replacement within a month because this fender worked so poorly.

Nice product if you just need something temporarily, but if you really want to stay dry I would spring for something a little more permanent. This fender works reasonably well, but dont expect it prevent a dirt stripe up your back in heavy rain, or water.

This is a great product. Works well at keeping the mud and water off your back. When combined with the front one you have ultimate protection. The rear one is nice if you want to have protection during commutes and then easy and fast to remove for a muddy weekend ride. They are lightweight and look great on my Trek 4300. I would recommend these to any mountain bike commuter, the pricing seems fair for the protection you get.

It rains a lot where Im from, and Im a college student, so if I need to get to class quickly during or after a rainstorm, I can count on this to keep me dry =)

In all seriousness, this product is great. I looked around for a long time searching for a good rear bike fender and this one fit my interests and my budget. The shipping was very fast (I believe I got it within 5 days on standard shipping) so Im happy.

So much better than a dirt stripe.

Although the picture instructions for installation are a bit sparse, its easy enough to figure out how to put the fender on and adjust it, and then its easy to get on and off. Its so much better than a spray of dirt up the back.

not very secure

I cant seem to tighten this enough to prevent it from dropping when I ride off of a curb. Fortunately its easy to remove, so I only bring it when I expect rain.
Besides that, what can I say. It does the job.

HAD TO DO SOME MINOR ALTERATIONS TO GET IT TO FIT, NOT TOO BAD THOUGH.

Looks great and does it's job.

Cant really say much about a piece of plastic, other than the Topeak DeFender keeps the mud off of my back and looks great, like fenders on an off-road motorcycle. However, remember to carry a hex tool with you in case the fender shifts downwards against the tire after large bumps and drops.
