Box needs to be stronger     On: 2008-01-11

I bought four bikes from Amazon. They all came in boxes with no damage to the box except this Cadillac bike. The box was torn up on the bottom on both ends. Platic pieces were broken off the bolts that protect the wheel frames. The plastic piece that protects the opening where you put the handlebar was also broken. The box is a lighter weight material than the boxes that the other bikes I ordered were sent in. (two Schwinns and a Columbia) There were a few scratches on the frame, and a rubbed place on the handlebar. The front brake cable was missing. I called and they sent another with no problem. The seat has the Cadillac emblem on it but it was not quite centered properly. The internal back brake did not seem to stop the bike as well as a conventional bike brake with the pads that go against the wheel frame. The gear shifters were hard to moved from gear to gear with your hand. None of the other bikes I bought had this trouble. They were all easy to move. This bike has an internal shifter and you have to release pressure off the pedals when you shift, however, the shift knobs were still very hard to turn. I like the seat, it is very comfortable. The bike is easy to get on because of the low bar. The seat can be adjusted very low which was a plus since my daughter is a little scared of bikes. You can adjust the seat so as wo sit on the seat and have your feet flat on the pavement.
Cadillac Comfort Bike-Womens     On: 2007-12-26

Purchased this bike for my wife - to join me on daily exercise runs; (were both over 70, so comfort and ease of operation were primary). She Loves it! It is very well constructed...(and was easy for me to assemble). The extra back rest did not provide any comfort or support, (for a 54" , 125 lb frame) - so she rides without it... For this kind of easy riding, the internal gears and drum brakes are superior to those found on "sport bikes" .

After reading the other reviews, I felt that this was an excellent bicycle, but I was concerned about its condition on arrival, i.e. would all of the parts be included? I also was somewhat concerned about the ease of assembly. As it happens, the box was damaged, but all of the parts were present. It had been carefully taped to prevent the loss of small parts. At most I spent no more than an hour assembling the bike, but I am mechanically inclined. My guess is that some folks would need to have a bike shop assemble it, which is recommended by Cadillac. The bottom line is that I am delighted with the bike and like it better than any I have owned. It is actually tall enough for me (over 6), but my wife can ride it by lowering the seat. The 8-speed gearing is smooth and sufficient for all that I do, but it might not be suitable for serious hill climbing. The materials seem to be first class, and the seat is very comfortable. I recommend it very highly.

comfort ride     On: 2007-08-28

I recently purchased this bike after back surgery for some low impact excercise as the bike boasted of great shocks on the wheels and seat. It came without any trouble and I put it together myself without help but, I will say if you are not machanically inclined I think most people would need a little help in assembling it. I started riding it and it is really smooth and a great ride for those who want a leasure experience. I am so pleased with this bike and its performance. I have recommended it to all my friends over 50.

I wouldn't recommend this bike.     On: 2007-07-26

Bike arrived damaged and missing front brake cable. Eventually received missing part, but have had problems with bike operation. Gear shifter sticks and gears often slip or do not change smoothly. Bike squeaks and makes a lot of noise. People keep asking me of theres something wrong with my bike. Embarrasing. Noisy brakes also. Left pedal crank shaft keeps loosening and falling off. Tried to give the bike a chance, but should have returned immediately. Now its too late. I wouldnt recommend this bike.
Love my bike     On: 2007-07-21

I love this bike and what a great value. It is comfortable to ride on which was really important...you could get the right size and the Cadillac people where really helpful to put it together when I didnt want to make a mistake installing the front tire. Their website was also helpful....it had a video to explain how to assemble their bikes. I put the bike together myself and it hasnt fallen apart yet (lol). Found out the bike was originally made to be sold in specialty bike stores but their marketing campaign changed and they found the internet was more successful. Again superb quality for a bargain price. Amazon and Cadillac Bicycles made it possible for me to have a quality bike for a price that I could afford with low shipping costs and no sales tax. Thank you both.
Missing parts     On: 2007-06-26

Lets see No instructions ,no pedals, and no front brake cable. I called the number on the bike and they helped pretty fast. I got everything except the instructions. After getting it put together, I will say its a nice bike. Its the most comfortable bike that Ive ridin. They just need to package it better. Heres the customer service # 866-462-4535 in case anybody needs it.
Lousy customer service     On: 2007-06-21

Whats with the missing parts that I and other reviewers have experienced? Whats going on in their packing and shipping section? Im afraid I didnt get the royal treatment that another reviewer got, whereby they shipped his missing parts overnight. Its been nearly three weeks since I first called, and I cant ride my bike properly because of a missing front break cable. They replied to one of my emails after I called, but usually they dont bother to reply at all.
Great bike, Lousy delivery.     On: 2007-05-15

The first bike was delivered by UPS with the entire bottom of the box broken out and tape around the box. The driver hollered that she has made note of the damage as she sped away. Several parts were missing. I called UPS and arranged for a return. The UPS guy spoke in some code and ultimately gave me the wrong information but the pick-up driver was accomodating and took the bike.
I had to re-order the bike as Amazon refunded my money upon return. The second delivery found the bottom of the box again broken open with fewer parts missing but the front tire out of line so it rubbed on the frame. I called the number in the bike manual and their rep was very sympathetic and helpful. They mailed me the missing parts promptly and at no charge.
Putting the bike together is straight-forward if you are mechanically inclined but there is no step-by-step assembly guide. Once assembled, its
a great bike.
I paid cash for my wifes Cadillac     On: 2007-05-13

I paid $230 on Amazon. The bike is easy enough to put together and everything works. My wife likes the looks and the ride, and the 8-speed is simple to use(just turn the grip shifter) range of gears is fairly wide so it will work no matter where you live, My wife even went to the local mountain bike spot and rode the flat trails with no problem. The bikes suspension system is on the soft side but better that than to hard. The only complaint is the seat is constantly squeaking. Some kind of metal-on-metal noise(a fixable problem). All in all the bike is nice and should still be nice in 10 or 15 years because of the materials. This is not a huffy. I wouldnt pay any more than I did but it was money well spent
Caddy Comfort     On: 2007-04-12

I havent riden a bike for quite some time and just resently got a new job that is very close to my home and thought this would be a good chance to save on gas and get some exersize at the same time. When I first started looking for a new bike I wasnt quite sure what would be right for me. When I came across this Cadillac I knew right away it was the one. Im an old school type of guy and this bike has that old school look with up to date technology, drum brakes, frame shock absorber, and in-rear hub shifting mechanism. Even though it only has 8 gears that seems to be enough. The weight of the bike seems to well dristibuted for good balance. It realy does give that Luxury Cadillac ride. When I received the bike it was packed very well and assembly was not very difficult, if you are the least bit mechanically inclined, needed only a few basic tools. I am very impressed with the craftmanship that this bike has and I would definetly reccomend it to everyon. I would also like to say how freindly amozon.com is to work with.

Cadillac AV-8 Comfort Bicycle -- Wow!     On: 2007-04-06

A Cadillac bike -- at first I was a bit skeptical. Then I took a chance and bought one. From the first moment I mounted and rode it, I could tell that it was not really a "bike" -- but a technological masterpiece. It had the most incredible balance I have ever experienced from any bike. The drum brakes are smooth, yet powerful. The Sturmey Archer enclosed shifting is a dream. The step-through, unisex frame increases the saftey. Regarding weight, it is not a "light" bike, which gives stability, but it is not a heavy bike, which makes it easy to lift. The tires have a smooth center for a quiet ride, but the outsides of the tires are constructed for traction in turning. The shock on the back, the two shocks on the front, and the springs in the seat make this a very comfortable ride. There are some bikes that will go faster and some may be more powerful, but if you are one who desires to do pleasure riding at a decent speed -- and your limit is around 20 miles per day -- then this technologically advanced and balanced bike is for you! You have to put SO little effort into "making the bike go" that you feel at times like it is doing most of the work. This is truly a bike for those who want to enjoy biking! I had one adjustment problem, and the owner of the company answered my email inquiry personally. I have been so pleased that I just ordered and received a second one for my wife. Oh, by the way -- I also cannot say enough nice things about Amazon. What a company!
"Caddy" bike     On: 2007-04-06

This bike was delivered in the time advertised and in good condition. That being said, I want to say what a great machine this is. Very comfortable and looks fantastic, one minor scratch that could have happened in the factory or during shipping. I would recommend this to any one looking for a comfortable and great looking ride. When You add up 8 speeds, drum brakes, great seat, and shocks front and rear this is the best bike Ive ever seen.

Packaging and Shipping     On: 2007-02-25

Packaging of all the components in the carton was unbelievably good, very well thought out to insure the bicycle arrived with no blemishes. My own hangup was the proper installation of the front disc brake cable. Here, installation instructions would have been very helpful.
Best comfort bike     On: 2007-01-31

This is the most comfortable bike I have ever owned and the 8 speeds are all Ill ever need. The brake and shifting mechanism is enclosed in the rear hub, so there is nothing to get knocked out of alignment. The seat and handlebars are adjustable and will adjust to fit just about everyone. I dont use the back rest - havent seen a need for it.

Nice Value!     On: 2007-01-21

Bought bike as a gift for Christmas - Arrived in two days in damaged box with a few missing parts. A call to the # listed as the service company resulted in missing parts being overnighted to me - quite impressive. Assembly instructions were not part of the packaging and this slowed down the otherwise easy assembly. Recipient likes the bike and even bought another one.

Cadillac Advnenture AV-8 Comfort Bike 16" frame     On: 2006-09-19

It is advertised as a comfort bike but isnt anymore comfortable than a regular bike. I like the disc brakes so far but have only had it since last of July. Would like a wider range of adjustments for the handle bars, up and down and forward and back.
Cadillac Adventure AV-8 Comfort Bike     On: 2006-07-29

I have been wanting to get back to bicycling for a while and bought a cheap bike and immediately fell off of it so I have been leery about purchasing another one. When I saw this bike and it had the name Cadillac attached I decided to give it a try. This is absolutely the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden. The gears are covered, the seat and handlebars are so adjustable and the ride is really like cruising. I also love the fact that the brakes are drum so you dont have to worry about the adjustments like a regular bike. It is really different looking and "classy" - I am the only one in my town to own one! Your price was great too!
Cadillac AV-8 Comfort Bicycle     On: 2006-07-18

This bicycle is a very comfortable bicycle and deserves the name Cadillac. The wide seat, front shocks, and central uni-shock at the pivotal midframe all work together to provide a very comfortable ride. I havent ridden a bicycle that much in the last 25 years but I knew that I wanted one that was easy on the body and not too complicated to operate and this bike offers both. The construction is sturdy and mostly weather proof which is handy since I live near the beach. The shifting mechanism works nicely and is easy to get to and use. I have had many compliments on this bike with many asking how to get one.
cadillac comfort bicycle     On: 2006-07-17

I was very impress with the construction as well as the quality of this bike. The strumey-archer 8 speed works smoothly but is a little stiff in the twistshift. I believe this will wear break in and will loosen up. This bike is a real jewel for someone who likes a very comfortable bike to ride. The seat is very well built and very comfortable.....you will really enjoy this bike.
