solves a problem     On: 2008-06-21

I bought this product to clean up the space on my small apartment patio. I had read reviews of a competators product and even checked it out at REI. It was much more expensive and the reviews said that it fell over. This one doesnt seem to have those problems. I only have one bike on it right now but it is a pretty heavy bike (one of those old auto bikes) I am hoping that it will withstand the weight of a second bike when I add another one later this summer, but so far so good. It does what it is supposed to do.
Is simple and works well     On: 2008-05-14

Works great for me. Youre not getting amazing build quality for the price, but it holds my mountain and road bike well. I am not concerned about the bikes falling or getting scratched.
Totally Worth It     On: 2008-04-18

My husband had this installed in the garage and up in no time because its that easy to do. I love that you can move it around also, which is why I opted for this vs. something that has to be installed stationary to the walls. Id have like to spend less for something for this use, but the convenience makes up for it.
Easy to Use     On: 2008-04-06

This was extremely easy to install. I had it up in a matter of minutes. I had to make one adjustment as it was not straight at first. Looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. All I had to do was loosen it, straighten it and retighten. Very simple design and the price is very reasonable. With 2 of them, I was able to create much needed space in the garage. I installed it in a space with a somewhat low ceiling. I installed it "upside down" (by chance) otherwise I would not have had enough space to use both hangers. This does not affect its perfomance in any way, though.
does the job     On: 2008-03-09

Took just a few minutes to set-up and works well.
Glad I bought it.
**TAKE NOTE**
As another reviewer mentioned, make sure you have a strong ceiling or you are anchoring the bike hanger below a stud, as it pushed a piece of my ceiling up. I do live in a poorly built apartment, but check before you put it up and you should be fine.
Swagman Hang it Bike Hanger     On: 2008-01-27

I bought this product as a cheap solution for storing my bike and my roommates bike in our apartment - were short on space in our 900 sq ft place. We were both very impressed by the quality of the hanger, its price, and the ease of setup and use.. it also matches the colours of our bikes and has become a showcase in our living room. Everyone compliments our "Bike Tree". - JJ =)
Works Like a Charm     On: 2007-12-26

This is a great, inexpensive storage solution for cyclists. Assembly was easy. Mounted my time trial bike on the upper and my heavier road bike on the lower and no slippage yet in over 30 days. I mounted the bikes so that the steering systems were facing opposite directions to maximize balance. I recommend mounting the lower bike high enough to allow broom/mop or vacuum access under the tires.
GREAT PRODUCT     On: 2007-12-21

Great product. Works great with my two MTB. Has all the adjustments that it needs and seems secure. Everything you need at a super price !.
good product     On: 2007-12-10

Great bike hanger.....it sits on my deck and has two mountain bikes on it and is still standing even after some really heavy winds and hard rain. You cant beat this product for the price.
Pleasantly Surprising Ease of Function and Aesthetic Appeal     On: 2007-11-29

This is one of the very few tools that I have purchased that is worth the money that I paid for it. My favorite feature is that it can be temporary or permanent and can be transported easily. It is light weight and not obtrusive by any means.

It came mostly assembled with only very few pieces that needed to be attached.

The rubber pads measure in at around 2 1/4" x 8" (just an eye-ball estimation) and offer ample support and grip on the floor and ceiling. They are screwed into the top and bottom and have reversed threads so that you can really fine tune the amount of pressure you want on the apposing surfaces just by turning it right or left.

Once in place, this thing wont budge and looks great. The hangers attach and adjust very easily for all different sizes and weight ratios. Once everything is where you want it, all that is left is to tighten and admire.

There is only one thing I can think of that would be better and that is a lever system in place of the reverse threads to do the final tightening. If you could get the pads where you want them and then just pull a handle that would lengthen the pole to take up the slack space with a preset pressure. Think the reverse of vice grips. You know when it gets to that max pressure when you squeeze it and then gets easy the rest of the way. Something like that.

One important thing to note. As other people have mentioned, the hangers dont grip the pole with a death hold. If you pull down on them hard enough, they will slide down. The only method I can think of to remedy this if it is a problem for you is to use some 80 grit sandpaper to rough up the poles. This would give their surfaces some tooth, though you may increase the chances of rust occurring. All in all, I would just make sure not to stress the hangers and make sure to not yank of them or pull on them when they are tightened.

I gave this a 5 star rating because I feel that the versatility, quality and price-point make this the best bike hanger out there.
Great Value     On: 2007-11-22

This is a sturdy product and a great value. Easy to assemble, I had my bikes hanging in less than 10 minutes. My only gripe was that the package was mangled on arrival but the product inside was in perfect shape.
Poorly Designed     On: 2007-11-21

Dont buy this hangar for anything other than sheets and towels. The product is very poorly designed, and poorly constructed. First of all, you cannot crank the the top and bottom screws tight enough to secure the rack, between the floor and ceiling, without bending the pole. In addition the pole comes in two sections with two differenct diameters - a small diameter chrome plated section that telescopes inside of a larger diameter painted piece, but the attachment cleats on the hangars can only be tightened over the larger diameter section, making the top section unusable. The weight of my bike was enough to rip the hangar off the chrome section, causing it to fall to the floor, even though I cranked the knob as tight as possible.
Swagman Hang It Bike Hanger     On: 2007-10-30

Compared the Swagman Hang It Bike Hanger to others available. It had good reviews, was inexpensive, was delivered in a few days, was well constructed, and was simple to put together and install. I have two bikes mounted on it in my garage and now have more floor space and less clutter. Great product!
Great Bike Hangar     On: 2007-10-22

It seemed really lightweight as i took it out of the packaging, but it was easy to install (please find a beam to use) and holds up to the pressure of two mountain bikes. I have mine in the garage, but you could easily use it inside a home, condo or apartment, the stainless steel looks really good.
Happy Customer     On: 2007-10-10

The product was what I had ordered and I received it when promised. Will shop here again.
Very,Very happy!     On: 2007-07-08

I ordered this rack late thursday evening and it was at my door when I came home from work on Monday. I would call that speedy. The rack is a breeze ot put up. I live in an apartment right on the cape cod rail trail so it is very convienient and takes little space and best of all...NO HOLES IN THE WALLS. It also works well when camping. The slide in camper comes off and the rack adjusts so I can mount it under the cab-over bed and the bikes stay dry while supporting the bed.
An Affordable Way to Store Your Bikes...     On: 2007-06-12

I am very pleased with this bike holder. The shipping was quick, and its free! This is the perfect space saver for a small area. It was very easy to install; it took maybe 10 minutes. You just turn the pole and it secures itself to the ceiling and the floor, screw on the bike rests and youre done! No screws are necessary though the rack does have holes for them should you choose to attach it that way. We have two bikes on it and theres no problem with the weight. If you bump it the bikes will swivel a bit so there is a little give in it. The one piece of advice that I could give is to make sure that you are hitting a beam in the ceiling before you screw it in tightly. We almost made a hole in the ceiling before we checked. Good luck!
its ok     On: 2007-01-31

not too bad. Its really really easy to install, ships super fast. Only complaint I have is that the angle tighteners do not tighten the whole way, so basically they just rotate and the bike balences on them. I was not aware of this when I bought it. It looks good and is pretty sturdy. No problem holding two bikes, theres more than enough room. Just having the actual bike holder part not tighten is a upsetting.
