Wow! The difference between Disc and V-breaks is astounding. The best thing about the Avids is how easy they are to adjust and change the pads. Not so with other brands. Installation and adjustment was a piece of cake. I prefer the mechanical breaks because if you pop a line on the hydraulics when you are in the woods you are SOL. you can always carry an extra cable.
