Comfortable, sporty, and easy to walk in..

When shopping for shoes, I had recently bought a bicycle for commuting from work. Since I was planning on using my bike regularly, I spent the money for a good bike that I would enjoy riding. However, when it came to buying the other things I needed, I found I didnt have much left. I just used my sneakers for a little while, even though my pedals accepted SPD cleated shoes. When it came time to purchase shoes, I wanted something that would work well for me but not cost a lot. There are plenty of options out there for $100+, I just couldnt budget for them and I didnt want pour quality either. The Shimano MT-31 multi-sport touring shoe had the versatility and quality I was looking for.

These 1 lb. 14 oz pair of shoes are designed for commuting, recreation, on or off the road cycling. A shoelace keeper loop keeps laces neatly tucked away preventing them from getting chewed up in the chain. Rubber tread outsoles provide traction and a recessed cleat area allows comfortable walking. Installing the cleats took about 10 minutes.

Never having used cleated shoes before, it took me a little while to get used to them. The included instructions recommend you to place one foot on the ground and practice engaging and disengaging from the pedal. If needed, adjust the retention force of the pedal. Practice riding on smooth ground until used to these sporty shoes. They are also stiffer in the sole than normal shoes; this stiffness is to be expected though.

Compared to sneakers, these shoes are better suited for riding. The laces from my regular sneakers got chewed up by the chain drive, and I couldnt get the most out of my pedaling. The MT-31 shoes are designed for riding and are less problematic. Having cleats, it is easier to take advantage of pulling the pedal up as well as pushing it down. For the price, I am extremely happy with these shoes.

PROS:
Comfortable and sporty
Easy to walk in
Quick cleat install

CONS:
I havent found any yet
