![]() Fizik Bicycle Bar Tape By: Fizik Average Rating: 3.0 Total Reviews: 6 More Information The Best The best bar tape. Lasts twice as long as Cinelli. The adhesive is really tough. A little short. Very Nice Feel - Unforgiving Installation - Too Short On the pro. side, this product has a very nice feel and appearance. On the con. side, this product is very difficult and unforgiving to install which renders the product not worth buying. There is not enough tape on a roll to generously wrap a bar, only the bare bones. And if you wind up will too little and attempt to go back, you will end up tearing and distroying the underlying layer (unless you dont use the adhesive). All in all this product is not worth buying unless you have a simple and small bar, for instance, a bullhorn fixie bar. Hard to remove. The tape looks great, but if youve had it on for any considerable amount of time and want to replace it, plan on spending 3 or 4 hours removing it. The adhesive causes the small amount of padding to separate from the tape, sticking to your bars. The gooey residue resists solvents. To avoid scratching your bars you will not use a file, but will use your fingernails for a good hour-and-a-half. Thats the left side. Another hour-and-a-half on the right side. Then youll spend another hour (or perhaps days) returning the new tape and exchanging it for a different brand because you will never want to go through that again. Excellent Bar Tape Ive used Fizik bar tape for years. Easy to install, multiple colors, cleans easy, and last. Its a thin tape, but that is what I like. Rips easily on installation I bought this tape for my wifes bike yesterday because she liked the yellow color. I very nearly bought some for myself because of the more durable vinyl feel to it. The bar tape ripped along the edges in countless spots. I was discouraged that I had just wasted 18 dollars on a product that was crap, but finished the job so my wife could still use her bike in the meantime. I am a discerning cyclist, and admittedly picky about how my bike looks and feels. I think the Fizik Microtex tape is downright acceptable. It might work for a straight bar, but not for drop bars with curves. Looks great The tape looks great and feels pretty sturdy. I replaced a more spongy tape that immediately started to change color from absorbing everything on my hands, this tape will definitely endure better. The only downside to this tape is that it isnt comfortable at all; this doesnt surprise me and I am still happy with it, but if you plan on purchasing this tape be warned that you will need to wear gloves for any long ride. |
