Good work stand for the price.     On: 2010-02-07

Purchased this to keep on my apartment patio to work on my bikes. Good sturdy design, will definately hold bicycles of any weight with easy. The only complaints are that it requires allen wrenches to adjust height, and it can be extremely hard to adjust the swivel. quick release on the clamp would be nice, but the screw type is a cheaper substitute and does its job. Reccomend if you are on a budget! Otherwise get one that is easier to adjust.
Good for infrequent repair work     On: 2010-01-03

I went with this stand strictly because of price and I trust Park Tools products. The clamp works great.

You have to use a hex key to lengthen and shorten the vertical tube as advertised, which can be a bit of a hassle if you are constantly using and storing the stand. it wobbles if you are abusing the pedals of the bike, but I never fear the stand will topple over. for a shop mechanic or someone who will get hours and hours of use from a repair stand, you might want to upgrade to a sturdier stand.

It is a pain to store. the bracket on the bottom that holds the vertical tube to the legs slides up and down when u release the button. however, when you try to raise the bracket the legs just fall on the hinge. there is nothing holding them in place. if you put pressure on the stand when the legs are open, sometimes they get pinched in the bracket and stay in position when picking it up off the ground or sliding the bracket up. otherwise everytime u want to put the stand away, you raise the bracket, the legs flop down to vertical.

the other issue is, once you release the button and slide the bracket up, there is nothing keeping it up by the clamp. there should be another button up top to clip the bracket into place so you can carry the stand without the bracket falling and the legs flopping around.

for those, like me, who are just going to take it out once or twice a month to do some minor repair, lubrication, or cleaning, its great. For the price, it is worth taking the 2-3 minutes trying to put the stand away with all the flopping and sliding. once its up, its great!
Great item, description slightly off.     On: 2009-11-21

Holds my 23 pound bike easily and can even hold my 45 pound mountain bike with no problems. Ive seen cheap bike stands and this isnt one of them. The only downside is the legs dont fold "up" like the description says and they actually fold down making it longer. Not a big issue, although storing it will be a challenge.
nice stand     On: 2009-10-25

I would highly reccomend this stand to any home bike mechanic, very stable, very rugged, foldable for easy storage.
Makes maintenance easy! I wish Id puchased one a long time ago.

great stand     On: 2009-10-25

I would highly reccomend this stand to any home bike mechanic, very stable, very rugged, foldable for easy storage. The weight of the bike actually stabilizes it. Suprisingly well made, this thing is going to last for years.

Perfect Solution     On: 2009-10-05

I was looking for a simple, sturdy repair stand to tune my bike that could be easily stored. This is it. Highly recommended.
It is All That     On: 2009-09-14

Park Tools make the best bike repair tools in the business -- period. They may be a bit more expensive, but they are well worth it.

After vacillating back and forth between the PCS-10 and PCS-9, I decided I would save some money and get the lower end unit. I have not been disappointed. It is incredibly sturdy, and was very easy to assemble. It only took 20 minutes from unpacking to final screw. The nylon ring/collapsible leg feature is actually quite genius. Dont be confused by other reviews, this is a fully collapsible stand. The feet swing downwards, and the metal bracket which the feet are attached to unlocks out of place with the push of a spring clip, and the bottom of the unit slides up the main post for easy storage.

This is a rock-solid stand, and while many will not mind spending the extra $30 or so for the quick-release mechanisms of the PCS-10, this unit will suit virtually any home bike mechanic.

Another great Park Tools product.
Good bike stand, but ...     On: 2009-08-11

This stand is undoubtedly a good value for the price. It is fairly well built, and holds a bicycle relatively steady so that one can work on it. The only thing that is somewhat annoying is that an allen wrench (provided) has to used to adjust the height of the thing--a fly-wheel would have been more user friendly.

But my big gripe is with the terrible customer service at Park Tool. One of the pieces came to me with what was obvioiusly a factory defect--it was deeply scratched, despite being sealed and padded in the factory packaging. When I contacted Park Tool, they refused to do anything, except to sell me a new replacement part at full price; and then to add insult to injury, they rambled on about how their customer service was "second to none." This sort of stuff is what led Circuit City into bankrupcy!

Well, my saga has a happy ending: the Amazon seller I bought the stand from (BikeSomeWhere) is getting a replacement part and sending it to me at no charge! They certainly have their heads on straight!
High quality - 2 quibbles     On: 2009-06-12

Well constructed. Sturdy. The folding legs are a big plus for those with limited storage space. Two things that could make it better: 1) It could be a little lighter. 2) The telescopic height control should be adjustable without a hex wrench.
Great product - Great company     On: 2009-04-18

Sturdy and well made. I called the company for some help and they were excellent to work with.
Nice and sturdy     On: 2009-04-07

A solid well made product.
It makes working on my bikes so much easier.
Dont know how I lived without it.
Great!     On: 2009-03-13

wow, this thing is alot more sturdy then i expected. Awesome!!! nice rubber type grip to hold the bike, so it doesnt scratch your bike. this thing is sturdy! got a heavy mountain bike on it, and it still holds great. got my lite weight specialized road bike on there and its nice to work on.

I dont suggest weak bike stands, this one already wombles more than i would like, but i bet its the strongest youll find out there. So dont settle for something less, get this one :)
Excellent!     On: 2009-02-10

Works well with any bike in any position. Very solid and fits in a closet when folded. I just built two bikes on this thing and had no problems whatsoever. A must for the home bike mechanic on a budget. The only problem I have is all my friends trying to get free bike-work done and a lack of free time!
should have bought it long ago     On: 2009-01-19

Much bigger/sturdier than I expected. Clamp holds the bike well. Working on my bike, especially the drivetrain, is no longer a huge pain. Absolutely worth it.

I purchased this stand for my teenage son and he is very happy with it. He is a bike fanatic and it is perfect for his use. I was extremely happy with the speed at which it arrived especially so close to the holidays.
Very Happy     On: 2008-11-13

I was pleasantly surprised with the sturdiness of this product plus I was able to hang it in a corner of my garage and not take up any floor space. Love it!
Park Bicycle Repair Stand PCS-9     On: 2008-08-09

One of the best purchases Ive ever made for my bike life. Its very sturdy and has a great clamp for holding the bike. I can put as much weight on this thing as Im capable of. Havent tried it with a bottom bracket or a stubborn set of pedals, but for 99% of what the average cyclist is going to do on a bike this thing works fine. And it breaks down for travel. I was tempted to buy a cheaper stand and there are a number out there in the $40-50 range but was disuaded by some of the reviews. Dont waste your money.
A must have!     On: 2008-07-29

Easy to set up and super sturdy. I have a heavy commuter bike with tons of accessories and this stand holds it without even so much as a wobble. Using this stand you will have worry free time to just concentrate on fixing your bike. It is definitely worth the money.
A solid repair     On: 2008-07-14

The Park PCS-9 Stand is solid, simple and well built. It holds my bike solidly in whatever position I need and has enough adjustability to accommodate whatever position I need. I bought the handle bar holder after reading another customers review and was glad I did. The combination does everthing I need at a reasonable price. I have only been using it for a few weeks, so I dont know how it will hold up. However, my initial impressions are good and I believe it is made to last. Note, when not in use, the legs "dangle" freely. If you plan to move it around a lot, you will want to use a strap to secure them. Its a minor inconvenience considering the price.
THE BEST $93 I HAVE EVER SPENT!!!     On: 2008-07-11

I purchased this stand to work on my Trek 4500 and it works like a charm!!! I had to do some work on my gears and now that I can put my bike on the stand makes my life so much easier. This stand is worth every single penny.

If you are looking to do your on repairs and tune ups on your bike this is the stand for you!!!

This for sure is the best $93 I have ever spent.
If you had a car lift would you use it?     On: 2008-05-20

Having the work where you want it is as important as having the right tool for the job. You can put the bike anywhere you want almost and make working on your bike more enjoyable. Heavy duty, adjustable, and storable, I love it. I dont know how I serviced my bike with out one.Nashbar Elite Tool KitPark Tool AK-37 Advanced Mechanic Tool KitPark BBB-1 Big Blue Book of Bike Repair
Park PCS9 Home Repair Stand Good Buy     On: 2007-11-09

The Park PCS9 stand is great. I have only had mine a week and it is already
making my bicycle repair work much easier. I would recommend getting a handle-bar stabilizer to hold front wheel in the straight position. They start at about $15.00. I have been using a Velcro strap and it is not working all that well. Ride Safe!
