Easy to assemble, very stable ride     On: 2007-09-22

We just got this product this week for our 4 1/2 year old daughter. I chose this trailer because the Instep Pathfinder model seemed to have some issues. When this one arrived, I noticed that although it is branded as a Schwinn product, it is produced by Instep. Looking at the pictures of the two, they do appear to be different particularly in the arm that attaches to the adult bike.

Assembly was quite easy. It took about 15-20 minutes to put it together and attach it to my bike. As another reviewer wrote, one step does indeed require two metric allen wrenches of the same size (5 mm I think). The rest of the steps require a single 5 or 6 mm allen wrench and a crescent wrench or two. After testing the trailer in our street, we took it out for a ride along the Potomac River. My daughter loved it. I was a little concerned because there is a little play in the trailer (you can feel it wobble very slightly) but I warned her to hold on very tight, and she did great.

I like the fact that the trailer can detach from my bike pretty easily. The clamp that holds it to my bike seems mechanically sound. Another nice feature is that the long arm can fold over for easy storage and transport. The only down side is that at about 40" tall, my daughter seemed to barely reach the pedals even at the lowest seat setting.

Overall were very happy with this product. Kids younger than 4 may have a problem riding it because of the height and the slight wobble, but it seems like a great bridge for those almost ready to ditch the training wheels.
simply GREAT !!!     On: 2007-09-11

Better than a bike with training wheels! My son loves it!
As a bonus - we spend more time together! Easy assembly too!
Great for the kids     On: 2007-07-25

Couldnt get my son on his bike with training wheels, but he does great on this. Seems like a good medium to get him on two wheels. Mechanically the trailer is quite sound. There was one part of the assembly that required two metric allen wrenches of the same size. Im not sure most people have more than one set, much less metric. THe assembly only took a few minutes.
