I just ordered one to replace original equipment.

This derailler came as original equipment on my 2001 Trek 4500. It served me well for 6 years, giving me accurate and quick indexed shifting, and no problems. Then a few days ago a twig got jammed between the chain and the lower derailler pulley. Since the chain could no longer go through the derailler, the pedal force was directed at the derailler, twisting it back and up to the 12:00 position into my spokes. Luckily I was on sand, so when the rear wheel locked up it slid easily, causing a barely perceptable bend in one spoke, but the derailler was destroyed, and the hanger was twisted beyond repair. I got a new hanger cheap locally, but can only find higher priced deraillers locally, so I ordered a new one through Amazon. The damage would have happened to any derailler, no matter the brand or quality, so the derailler was not faulty in any way; in fact I expect the same long service and reliability from the new one, thus the 5 star rating.
