Im new to cycling, and wanted all the help I could get. The padding definitely helps, but you will still get sore after a long ride. Eventually your body will get more used to it.

I like the Ultrasensor 3D Elite Chamois better than the microsensor 3D Pro chamois shorts (red padding with stripes). The leg grips are much more comfortable on this pair of shorts vs. the Pro chamois shorts (which are itchy). The material seems a little thicker than the microsensor 3D Pro shorts. Its also cheaper!

The variations are confusing, so I recommend using the Pearl Izumi charts when comparing -

They apparently come out with improvements/changes every year, so the old seasons shorts are often on sale in the beginning of the year.

I wear a womens size 6, but feel better in a Medium (size 8-10).

These are the best biking shorts Ive ever owned. I regularly go on long bike rides and with these, the rides are truly more comfortable.
The shorts breath well and the padding, although sufficient and very effective, are not bulky at all!
Pearl Izumi makes a great product.
