![]() Michelin Country Rock MTB Tire - 26 x 1.75 By: Michelin Average Rating: 5.0 Total Reviews: 3 More Information Don't have a need for knobby tires on your MTB? Get these! I own a mountain bike, but I dont live in the mountains nor do I ride off-road (except grass). Its strictly concrete...trails, sidewalks, streets. I never knew how much of a difference swapping knobby tires for pseudo-road (urban) tires would be, and I have been nothing but impressed with these tires. The first aspect I noticed was that these are much quieter than knobbies, followed by ease of rolling. I have ridden over lots of gravel, through road construction, grassy fields, and on city streets, and have not had any flats (yet), and I dont use tire liners. These tires have no-nonsense labeling, and are free of a reflective sidewall, which I understand the reason that they are beneficial (safety), but they remind me too much of whitewall tires, which I dont care for. I am also using Michelin Butyl Tubes with schrader valves, so theres no need to have valve adapters and you can "air up" just about anywhere. As of now, I have been running these at 70psi, and have had no issues. Michelin Country rock I bought one of these tires as a replacement, and fell in love with it - bought 3 more... the center tread rides smooth, yet has some tread, and the lateral tread widens out for rough terrain. I put tire liners and presta valve tubes in, and its a great combination. March 31, 2007... maybe not a five star...the tube started bulging out the weak sidewall...then a blowout...replaced the tube, now the same thing at 35 lbs. so I re-tucked in the tire into the rim...will see what happens. Weak or "too flexible" sidewalls? Great for mountain bike to commuter bike conversion I put these tires on my old mountain bike to turn it into a street/pavement worthy commuting bike. These are much better for street riding than knobby mud tires. The tires are very quiet and the rolling resistance is much less than mud tires. The minimal tread on these tires is great for gravelled pavement and asphalt on worn city streets. I havent tried these tires on hardpack trail, but I imagine they would suffice. |
