Nice fenders, need to be handy.

After reading many of the other reviews, and after wasting money on all sorts of types of temporary fenders, I decided to get these and I knew I would have to McGuiver some things. They work great. I have a Gary Fisher and didnt need to take the rear tire off which I was glad. Right bolt size #10, but not long enough to secure both stays to same hole at rear of bike, like instructions recommend. Had to get longer bolts. The front fender only had 2 non threaded holes on the left of the fork so I ran a bolt through and a lock nut. For the right side, instead of drilling, I just used a tip tie which worked surprisingly well. Zip ties could be very useful for everyone in this regard.

Although I did need to use a spacer in order to firmly connect the front fender to the fork, on the brake U.
Otherwise, so far after a month commuting on rough roads, they stay in place, and the rain does not hit me.
Once I closed the arm of a bus rack over the front fender, but it did not crack.

Nice fenders - needs some redesign

These are overall nice bike fenders. Beings that most new bikes consider fenders optional these will keep you dry. Installation was easy. Problem, I feel, is in the design. The support brackets are adjustable. Thats good. The extra portions of the support brackets that are not used are an eyesight sore. Thats bad. They should be designed so that the adjustment is at the wheel and not at the fender. In this way the fender has a nice clean look. The extra that is not used at the wheel could then just be nipped off with a wire cutter. I could be wrong but thats my opinion.

Excellent Universal Fit

I used it for my Hybrid bike. Excellent fit ... very sturdy make. Always look for sizes of your Tyres - then choose fenders. Also look up on the brands website as Amazon does not carry every detail.

ATB Bike Fender Set

They were easy to install, but not all of the bolts were usable on my Schwinn bike. The rear fork on the My bike takes 1/4 32 (threads), not the number 10 bolts that worked on the front fork, but not the rear. By the way, I blame the bike manufacturer more than Planet Bike for this problem. Why they use 1/4 32 threads is beyond me. 1/4 20 is the standard.

I dont blame the kit manufacturer but it would be nice if they included extra bolts (different sizes for various bikes), especially for $30 for the kit.

Be prepared for some fabrication...

Good overall product, considering this is a mountain bike universal fit set of fenders.

With that said, dont expect to be able to quickly attach these to your mountain bike and be able to head right out for a ride. Like others have said, mounting the rear fender requires removing the rear tire to get the room needed to bolt it on correctly. Perhaps for some bikes you wouldnt have to remove the rear tire, but looking at the design of most mountain bikes these days you more than likely will.

The set does come with some hardware, but be prepared to make a run to the hardware store to get bolts that will actually work with your bike. In addition, if you do not have extra screw/bolt holes in your front forks you will have to drill and tap bolt holes into them in order to securly mount the front fender.

So if you dont have a good set of tools at home, a little fabrication skill, and a few hours to kill, you may want to have a bike shop install these for you.

When did bikes quit having fenders?

Before my often overweight friends started riding bikes again and invited me to go along, I think it was 1955 when I last rode. So I bought a bike, only to feel incomplete without fenders. This product fit well, black was a nice complementary color, and the first time we rode through runoff from an over zelious lawn waterer I was glad I added the parts. Thanks for a great product.

Bicycle fenders

Great fenders for bicycle. Made for a bike with standard brakes, though my bike has disc brakes (had to use a litlle of my McGuiver skills to make it work). Again, this is made for regular brakes, so if you buy this product, be prepared for a little extra work on installation!

Nice Fender Set

These are tough plastic fenders that wont rust and have pre-mounted stainless steel support rods. Since these are a universal mount it took a little thought to mount them on my bike. One of the mounting tabs did not work on my bike so I had to drill out the rivet that held the tab and drill a hole in the rear fender to mount it. Had to remove the rear wheel to mount the rear fender so some tools are required and I had to supply the mounting screws.
