I bought a lock with this mount, clipped on the lock and rode down the street. What fun. Of course within 10 blocks i dropped over a standard curb and the plastic strap on the mount cracked sending my my lock sliding down the road. Stupid design, clearly not intended for anything more severe than your grandmother riding around a parking lot.

This mounting device that comes with many Kryptonite U-locks is great for storing the lock on your bike while riding. Attaching the lock to the frame keeps it out of the way and prevents it from banging around.
However, I found this winter that cold weather makes the latch very brittle. If youre not using a cable, there is a very strong chance that the lock will fall off when the latch finally goes.
For $14 w/ s&h, its worth buying a new lock that includes another mounting bracket instead of simply buying another brittle bracket.
