I bought a pair of these to replace a pair of HL350s that Ive been using as fog lights on my Honda Shadow A.C.E. mounted on my engine guards. If you want to do that, just get a longer mounting bolt from your local hardware store.
What a difference these make compared to the old lights!!
With the 350s, I basically had a pair of white marker lights. With these, if I have them adjusted up too high, cars will flash their high-beams at me from time to time!
That right there says a lot in my book!
Im using two sets of Eneloop AAs to power them and I recommend getting some sort of rechargeable battery unless you want to take out stock in regular batteries... These lights eat them up. 3-4 hours from fresh batteries to dead ones if youre using the high beams. Though Im sure low will last much longer, low is barely any brighter than the 350s, but at least they have the option which is sweet. On: 2009-05-08
As cheap bike lights go these are the best I have owned and I have a 5 led bell light and 2 cateye hl-500s that I have had since 1994 and they still work. I was just looking for a brighter light and the cateye hl-1500 has a low/high setting. This however is a power and not an angle setting. On the high setting this light is the only inexpensive light I have found that is bright enough for use. On the high setting this light is twice as bright as the hl-500 or the hl-350 and I have to say the hl-350 is the worst light I have owned. The bottom line is this light is better than and brighter than almost any light under 30 dollars.
