![]() Planet Bike 3034-1 Blinky Superflash .5 Watt LED with 2 Red LED Tail Lights (Black/Clear Case) By: Planet Bike Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 211 More Information Super Bright Light - Bad Mounting System Ive had the same commuting setup since 03 and it was time for a light update. The various Internet forums said this is the favored light right now, so I bit. The good: This light is awesomely bright compared to my old Cateye blinky from 03! Plus it only takes 2 AAA batteries so no more trying to figure out what to do with that odd battery. The bad: The mount is horrible. I have racks/panniers and use an under-seat bag when just around town for the usual essentials (spare tube etc). My old blinky just has a threaded hole to screw it to the rack. 30 sec and youre done. This unit has a click quick release, so it needs to be taken off the bike every time you stop or it will walk away. To add insult to injury, the stock light doesnt even come with a mount suitable for a rack. Thats a $5 extra option. Between my rack and my saddle bag, there is no suitable place to mount the light with the hardware provided. This is bad design for an easy problem and the reason for my 3 stars. Planet Bike, please drill a hole in the unit for those of us that just want to mount the darn thing and not have some quick release system. A little expensive for what it is This thing is not near as bright as some of the other reviews would make you think. I dont believe it really is that attention getting in the daytime as some have claimed. It does work very well for night use, which is what is important. I think it should be cheaper, and if they mark it down to about half what they normally want I will buy another. That being said, it does what is intended. I feel a lot safer when i am on my ride home and the sun is setting. It also seems water tight, but I dont ride my bike in the rain. Effective but fails in snow/rain The features are great - internal reflector, two low power LEDs and one high power LED which does a good job for the batteries used. The lighting modes are also welcome and battery lifetime seems good (several months with perhaps 1 hour use per week day). The bad: Well, its not properly sealed. Snow can creep into the base and short out the connections where the button switch is. The light will then fail until opened up and dried out. Its embarrasing riding along and suddenly realizing the rear light has failed - fortunately I had a cheap backup which is less effective BUT waterproof. I have two of these (one for each bike) and they both display this problem. I havent tried them in the rain yet but would not be surprised if this also causes issues. Best Light for Morning/Day/Night Visibility If you want high visibility when you ride, this light is the best available. Its very bright and has a unique flash pattern that gets attention. Its built well and it is easy to attach and detach from the bike. The seat post clamp holds the light securely at any angle and doesnt slip over time. The on/off button is easy to find and switch when you are on or off the bike. I think you will see a most companies imitate this design because it is the most noticeable and compact combination available. Stupid Bright! excellent Bought this about two years ago. I cannot recomend it enough. I commute most weeek-nights in Los Angeles. It is by far the brightest light out there. Also, ive have not had to change the battery in two years! I keep waiting to see when Ill have to change, but its just as ridiculously bright as ever. If you get hit by a car with this one, you were probably hit on purpose! "You can pull people over with that thing!" I bought this for running, as I just started running and the winter months have made it quite dark out after work. I clip this buddy onto the back of my headlamp band. Its SUPER bright, and I enjoy blinding the other runners during running club. Im tempted to try some traffic stops with my new bright light. The flash pattern is very different from other lights and makes it really visible. I highly suggest this light to bikers and runners. How do they do it? This is the brightest tail light I have ever seen. I havent owned this for long, so I cant speak to its durability, but if you want a reasonably priced light to keep you safe at night, they have made a fantastic product. amazingly bright light I have had several rear lights for my bike over the years. However, this one really lives up to the advertising. The light is so bright it is hard to look at directly. In my basement with no lights on the light was so intense that I could walk around and easily find my way with the red light. The only draw back for me was that they dont include the mounting bracket for a pannier rack with the cost of the light. I think many people who invest in such a light would be mounting on panniers like I am and that extra bracket would make this a perfect 5 star product. Best bike light in the world Ive seen and used a lot of LED rear lights for bicycles. This one is miles ahead of anything else Ive seen. No hesitation in recommending this product whole-heartedly! need a better button It was a good and bright light, but the on and off button is junk. The product really doesnt have a true on/off button. You just have to guess exactly where to push. After about six weeks the on/off button area seem not to response to the pressure of my finger. I had to push harder and harder to turn the product on/off. Now, I keep the light positioned "on" and just take the battery out to turn it off, which is a pain since you need a tool or a coin to open the compartment. Awesome product, not just for bikers I actually use this for rowing - it comes with a nice clip that is perfect for clipping onto a shirt or headband. It is super bright and very visible at long distances, very light, and the batteries last a long time - a perfect companion for any night activities where you want to be visible. I havent tested the waterproofing, but it does have a very nice silicone seal all around which would seem to make it extremely water resistant, assuming you reinstall it properly without kinds when replacing the batteries. All in all a great product. 5star, used for 1 year offroad I love this light. This is the best one. I have lost a couple cheapos, and used a couple cheapos that other people have lost due to broken/loose mounts. This thing blows them away. Have you ever seen those annoying strobe lights on traffic stop lights? This has a similar attention getting power, but not as annoying to a following car or bike. I have had passersby and walkers look at it or ask about it while using it in the daytime even on cloudy days! It is that bright. They often think its a police bike hahaha. It comes with mounts for the seatstay and the seatpost. Very useful if you have a seatpost rack or just want it lower. Worth $25, but see if you can get it for $20. Buy 2, because you will be sore if you ever do break it, and/or your friends will want it! It is apparently waterproof. I used a ziptie around the seatstay to double protection against losing the red lense cap. i never had it fall off, but its extra security for off roading. LED Bike Reflector Cant say they didnt see you with this reflector. Some riders behind me have said its too brite in the blinking mode but thats what its for. Would recommend. Mounted On My Zodiac Outboard Motor When I venture out before sunrise in my Zodiac boat there is a need for a rear tail light. This light works great although, it has has turned off without being touched. I believe the switch is too sensitive and can turn off when vibrated. Great light output and I purchased the optional bracket to mount to the flat surface area on the rear of my outboard motor. The mount is more than adequate and Im satisfied with the easy removal capability. Bright and simple What more can you say - it is bright and flashy. Visible from far away even in daylight. Attached to my seat post in one minute. Very bright The blinking mode is very bright and catches a drivers attention without any problems. Ive used probably 10 different types of tailights over the years, and this is the brightest yet. Three Riders Recently Finished a X-Country Ride w/ PB Super Blinky I attached it to the back of my helmet so it is at drivers eye level, and one to the back of my rack. The other two riders had the same set-up. When I got behind them, say by 200-300 yards, in the middle of the day, they were at least 5 time more visible than without these lights. They are THE ONE SAFETY ITEM that I would not go without now on any kind of bicycle ride. A standard Duracell battery lasted at least 14 days with 8 hours use per day. We changed our batteries once during the 3,000 mile trip. I WOULD NOT GO OUT ON THE STREET WITHOUT ONE OF THESE as they are by far the brightest I have seen (as well as Performance Bicycles version). I do not know if they produce a white version of these for the front of the bike, but if they do, it is my next purchase. BTW Performance Bicycle makes a similar product that may be brighter for about 1/2 the price... Seems bright enough when in my hand Great shipping and nice that its ready to go right out of the package. When Im holding it and look right into the light it seems painfully bright yet that effect maybe directional. When its on the bike and I walk behind the bike to eval the light it is less impressive. Overall its a good value and I have no regrets but I will continue to use the reflective vest in addition to the lights. Simply The Best Tail Light Available So Far. Love it! I did a lot of research, read endless reviews, and did a lot of hands-on in stores. After all, if your bike riding entails much time sharing even suburban side streets with cars and preoccupied/oblivious/attitudinal/texting drivers, your tail light is crucial and could make the difference between a nice ride or a trip to the ER. And after lots of hands-on, the Super Flash (as many other reviews attest, here and elsewhere on the Web) is just hands-down the best tail light available(as of this point in LED development, which of course will continue to evolve in the next 2-3 years, although it will take a lot to surpass the current Super Flash). I love this light. Its plastic, but build quality feels pretty good. Its easily removable, and clips securely to a jacket, strap etc. (It normally comes with a mount for a rear bike rack in addition to the standard seatpost mount, make sure the source you order from includes the rear rack mount; if not it can still be ordered seperately). It has two modes: steady on and a 1-2-3 flashing mode which is a real attention getter. Both are bright and very visible (not always the same thing). Good side visibility, which isnt always apparent in product photos, Id say about a 140 degree field from the rear/side. VERY bright from directly behind in the same lane. I was a little concerned from other reviews if it would prove obnoxious/too blindingly bright to other riders on bike trails, and glad to say its not. [...] Im very pleased with this light, and bought it again for a friend. The case opens and closes easily to change batteries; I havent had it out in any drenching downpours so cant comment on water resistance. On-off button is located on the very bottom, (not the rear) & easy to find by touch. This light is a winner. Now stop reading all these reviews, buy it, and enjoy your bright well-chosen and reasonably priced tail light. See my other reviews of other Planet Bike lights and other bike gear by clicking the link. Happy trails... One shortcoming -- not waterproof enough I have about four rear safety flashers that Ive gone through; this is the most recent purchase. I was quite happy with my previous flasher, but after adding a seat post mounted water bottle cage, I had to find a flasher that would work on the seat stays. The vertical orientation of the Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash fit the bill. It is lightweight, bright, and does the job well. My only complaint is last week I did an organized ride and it ended up raining hard enough that all the routes got shunted into the short course, 25 miles. Thus, I was out in the rain for about 90 minutes. When I got off the bike, I noticed the Blinky was stuck in the solid "on" state, instead of the flash pattern I had put it in originally. Pressing the button on the bottom didnt change the blink, nor did it turn off the unit like it should. I popped out the batteries and there was a few drops of water on the inside of the unit, somehow messing with the electronics. I left it open for a few days and it now works like it should. Although having the unit get stuck in the "on" position wasnt any catastrophe, I fear that it could just as easily have decided to switch off, which would have put me in jeopardy in the pouring rain. Great Little Light! I bought two Planet Bike Superflashes for a recent bicycle tour of Coastal Oregon and Northern California. My intent was to mount them to the flat light bracket on my Tubus rear rack, but there were no provision on the Superflashes for mounting to a flat surface... What to do? After trying several options I cut an old inner tube to the length of the mounting plate, split that section of inner tube, and then slipped it over the mounting plate. This worked something like an elastic waste band and the two Superflashes clipped easily and securely to the rubber-covered light mount. I checked the configuration a couple of times during the tour and it held up well; no adjustments required. The superflashes worked superbly during the tour. We cycled during conditions that ranged from rainy, to foggy, to low light (under canopies of Redwoods), to sunny and the superflashes were always on while we were on the bikes, which was seven-to-eight hours per day for two weeks. The lights always worked reliably and the batteries lasted for the entire two-week tour. I cant say enough good things about these lights and how they enhance rider safety. Having two of them mounted to my rack was an added plus. They absolutely generate a second look from motorists. So in sum you have a nice, reliable product at a good price. Whats not to like? best taillight bar none, and super-COOL! This light is incredibly bright, and its flash pattern is like a disco light show! Everyone comments on how cool it is! Spend a little extra money and buy this light- youll be much safer, and youll love showing it off. Safety and visibility This is a must for anyone riding on even moderately-traffic roads. It makes the cyclist readily visible without blinding drivers. Im glad the man who sold me my bike, himself someone who commutes to his bike shop on a bike, strongly recommended this. My two cents I read all the reviews and ended up buying the Cateye TL-LD1100 which is certainly bright but annoying because there are so many switch options that it hard to turn in off in a hurry Then yesterday I bought a Super Flash for my other bike and comparing the two Id have to say its brighter, easier to use, half the size and half the price. visible, good arc This is not your typical little blinker that someone wont see and run you over with. In fact, the flash is so visible it must be annoying to people behind you. Maybe theyll still run you down, but theyd either have to want to or be completely looking away from the road. It is even pretty visible from the side. A great light Ive always had good luck with Planet Bike rear lights. This one is no exception. Nice, bright and works well. Buy this light. Bright light. insecure mounting This light has a very bright flash, but the mounting system is insecure and badly needs a redesign. The first time I used this light, I added some rubber bands to hold it more securely. The second time, I forgot the rubber bands, and the light bounced out of its mounting bracket somewhere on a stretch of rough road, and I lost it. There are other strobe lights that are every bit as bright as the Super Flash with a better mechanical design. Until Planet Bike redesigns the mounting bracket, I would give this light a pass. Hard to miss you wearing the Blinky Super Flash! I commute to work by bike 3 - 5 days per week in various types of weather and visibility. I have 3 of these lights and have used them mounted on the bike and mounted on my backpack. In the flashing mode, it is almost impossible for someone to miss you. Battery life is surprisingly long -- I usually get 7 - 10 days out of a set of rechargeable batteries (30 minutes each way). Estimated battery life is around 10 hours in the flash mode. A couple of fellow bikers have been impressed enough that they have purchased them also. After trying several non-flashing LED and conventional lights, this is the most effective I have found. Price is a little higher then some of the others but the light really works. Great Light, but can be had much cheaper. This is a great taillight. Amazon unfortunately is selling this light at a ridiculously high price. It can be had for under $15 Canadian Dollars. I will not say from where, all you have to do is search the net for this light in Canada. Best rear taillight on the market! For every bike I own I get at least two of these, one for each seat stay in the back. They attach easily to seat tubes, seat stays, you name it, with the wonderful brackets included! I commute to work, 12 miles each way, on city streets, roughly 3 times a week for a good 9-10 months out of the year, across north Dallas, which is not bike friendly IMHO. I have the double pair of these on at all times, day or night. The batteries seem to last forever - Ive had to change them approximately twice a year. With the lights on in blinking mode Ive had no trouble of cars running up on my back-end, and I notice (with my Mirrycle rear-view mirror) that cars get over much further back and seem to see me a long, long way off. They are easy to turn on and off, with one soft touch on the bottom putting it in blinking mode, a second touch in steady mode (I never use this mode), and a third soft touch turning it off. Since I must park in a parking deck at work, I take them off the bike and carry them into work with me - they are too valuable to me to risk getting stolen. They come off easily using one hand, and go back on simply with one hand, but Ive never had any problem with them detaching on their own while riding - they click solidly into place, in other words. They also have held up quite well in the drenching 12 mile down-pours that are called rain in Texas, where the water is up to the curb in no time and these puppies are getting badly soaked - theyre practically indestructible and amazing! They are the best lights Ive ever come across. With my latest bike, Ive added a third to put on my seat post, so I have essentially a blinking triangle of light. If someone hits me from behind it will have to be intentionally since theres no way I can be missed! Not with these Planet Bike Blinkys! The blaze LED is something amazing to see BTW, I think anyone will be impressed. Ride safe and ride every day! Great light Ive owned 3 back red blinkers, this one is the best one. It has 3 modes: Solid red, random pattern, and off. The random light pattern I feel will cause the biggest visibility to your bike. I use mine from 4pm onward on my weekly in town bike rides. I go through pitch black rural areas (4miles) in which you can see this light clearly behind you and on the pavement, and in the city when a solid red light would get blurred out with the reflection of parked cars, signs, etc. Good Light, Bracket Could Be Better I really like this light. When comparison shopping at my local bike store it definitely seemed to be the brightest. My only disappointment has been that Ive had to replace it two times. It seems that the pot hole ridden streets of Seattle manage to make the light snap off from time to time. That said, I do like the light otherwise I wouldve switched to another one by now. Can be seen in direct sunlight Very bright light, can even be seen in direct sunlight. Every cyclist should have a rear blinker when riding even in daylight. Massive flash, great pattern This light will essentially rape the eyes of those behind you... I realize this is strong language, but Im not kidding. The flash pattern is very catchy, Im about to buy a second. If you plan on being seen, this is the light for you. Crazy bright! This light is great. I have a headlight with 9 white LEDs, but the single 1/2 watt LED in this light is still much brighter. The strobe pattern flashes like the strobes on emergency vehicles and is attention grabbing even in daylight. The clip on the back of the light can clip onto your pants or onto one of two included mounting brackets, one for your seat post and one for the frame next to your rear wheel. Two different size shims are included for the mounting brackets. All in all, a great package. Piece of Crap This light is terrible. Mine didnt even work when i got it. a total dud. just buy the cheap little planet bike blinky lights. you can get two for about half as much. this one is truly a piece of crap. the video review of it is misleading. i have been more likely to be hit by a car with this light, due to trying to make it turn on while riding. Bright light bright light This thing is a little ball of brightness. Its bright and that is what you want. If someone doesnt see this light than they are blind. Very Bright, But Fell Apart Going Down a Curb Planet Bike is a great company, and this is a very bright light...but yesterday when I was biking to work, it fell apart while going down a curb. I have a rear suspension bike and the light was clipped to a soft trunk bag, the curb was a standard size and I was not going very fast. So I can not see how a much shock was transfered to the light itself. Luckily I was on the pavement so I heard the sound of the lens section and batteries hitting the parking lot. When I put the unit back together, it worked immediately. However, it is not acceptable if an important piece of safety equipment can fail in normal use, and you may not necessarily notice it. I would rather have a light that was half as bright, but I could be confident it would not fall apart hopping down a curb. The reason why it fell apart seems to be that all of the weight, including the batteries is attached to the lens part of the light. If they instead put the majority of the weight on the mounted part of the light, it would be less likely for the thing to fall apart. Excellent! This light is what I was looking for and at the right price. The clamp they give you for the seat post is too small but in my case it still fit. The clamp is flexible and I had to use a little pressure to secure it with the screw. So far it hasnt broken. The light is very bright and has a flash or strobe mode and a solid mode in red led light. If you buy this light and spend 10 minutes looking for the switch to turn it on... its located on the bottom and you just give it a light push for each mode, lol! This gets 4 stars because of the clasp. Bright light This light works really well at night, and Im impressed with how well it works during the day. Dusk is when it does the most good. Comparing it to my old taillight, well, theres no comparison. Im not sure how I thought the old one made me any safer or more visible. The only problem I had was that the front piece popped off while it was on the front of the bus on the interstate. Planet Bike quickly sent me a replacement under warranty, and I simply added a zip-tie around it to make sure I dont lose it again. Blinky Super Flash by Planet Bike This is the best bike tailight I have ever seen. You will not be disapointed with the Blinky Super Flash. Just the Best Im a year-round, all-weather, night-and-day bike commuter. I dont need the lightest, newest, top-grade drivetrain components or a custom titanium frame, and Im not about to pay for them. But good lights are one thing I do need, and I dont mind paying top dollar for the added safety. (I have a top-of-the-line Dinotte combo for my bar/helmet lights.) Happily, though, I dont seem to need to shell out big money for a tail light. Ive tried various models, but this little guy is just the best. I could pay a LOT more and get the ridiculously bright Dinotte tail light, but why? This little Planet Bike is already insanely visible, and dirt cheap. Ive had mine (the Stealth) out in all weather, all year, and the thing just. never. fails. I see others have reported switch problems, but none here. Besides, theyre so cheap, just buy 2; toss one in your blowout bag and youve got a backup tail light every bit as good as your main, that clips instantly onto the same mounting hardware. Buy the non-Stealth model for your backup. Its even cheaper. A couple of other nice features: 1. It seems to be extremely easy on batteries. After several months, I finally changed mine out just because I thought surely they must be getting low. 2. The Stealth model really is virtually invisible when its not blinkifying. Mines mounted on one of my seat stays, and if youre not looking for it, you just dont see it. In short, I love this thing. Its one of those extremely rare consumer products that does exactly what it should do, does it extremely well, and costs what it ought to: its the Craftsman wrench of bicycle lights. Compared to the NiteRider Cherry Bomb I purchased four Blinky lights and one Cherry Bomb. They are all very bright and work extremely well both for day and night use. The NiteRider light provides a much smoother and wider coverage pattern than the blinky and is smaller/sleeker. When taking both lights and projecting them on a surface at a distance of 10, the Blinky has a tight circular hot spot compared to the NiteRider which has a very smooth pattern (equally bright but covers much wider area). The on/off switch is much easier to operate on the NiteRider as well. Both are good lights but I would likely purchase the NiteRider next time. Super Bright, Compact Design! I purchased this tail light for biking at night and in inclement weather. It is super bright, easy to install and just looks cool! Safety first! It's Super, It Blinks, It's the Super Blink! First off, dont look into the Super Blink when you first turn it on. You will blind yourself. You can see this light from major distances. A car cannot miss this. You can remove it from your bike and clip it on your body or helmet. One of the best ones out there. Rear LED Bike Light This thing is bright! Its got three modes, Off, Flashing, Solid On. I use the flashing mode and it can be seen for half a mile at least. Its got a simple seal that should be good for the rain. The button is inside the unit and you press the case just a little to turn it on/off. I had to add what seemed like a lot of rubber spacer to mount it on the side of the back fork. I have bag under the seat that blocks using their seat post mounted unit. Overall, Im really happy with the quality and price of the Planet Bike products. I expected to get years of service out of them. Bright Super Flash No disappointment, super bright and is satisfied. The only gripe is the little pricey shipping cost. Great visibility Good product for the money. Very visible for cars and traffic. Good value. Great bike tail-light This tail-light is very bright, light weight, and great for safety. It is much brighter that I thought it was going to be, thats for sure. I have owned it for a week or so. lasted about a month The light is bright, but has 2 major problems. 1) as stated in other reviews the switch is very poorly designed. Most of my low light riding is early spring and fall, when I often need full finger gloves. The switch is hard to use bare fingered, impossible with gloves on. It isnt really a switch, just a marked spot on the case. Which leads to, 2) I turned the light on yesterday when caught in light rain (wanted visibility), reached back to my bag and pressed the switch. Apparently that was enough to open the case, because when I went to turn it off after the rain, the light was gone, all that was left was the back and the clip. For $25 I expect much better. Inter-"Planet"-airy Cycling This is probably the best value in terms of Lumens/$$ and Hours-of-operation/Lumen. (I.E. Lots of lumens for few bucks and lots of hours of operation for the light output.) This light makes you visible even if it isnt the "life insurance policy" of the much-higher-output DiNotte light. You should put one of these on your bike... until youve saved up for the DiNotte (which is 8 to 10 times the price of Planet Bikes light and seems 8-10 times as brilliant). Very bright light I am very pleased with this light. I was primarily looking for a day time "safety" light and this fits the bill perfectly. The steady red light is adequate but the center flashing light is incredibly bright and visible from a long distance. It is quite an attention getter. I liked this so much that I bought a second one for my wife. Have not had it long enough to be sure but battery life seems to be good The best rear blinky I've seen. Yup - I own a coupleathreefour of these two... Pros: Extremely bright; steady or flashing; unique strobe-style flashing pattern; very adaptable locking/quick release/removable mounting system; inexpensive safety Cons: I cant get my Congressman to buy em for me on someone elses dime (I guess you have to already be rich to get a government handout)... The Bottom Line: This is a VERY nice, lightweight safety light that can be used pretty much anywhere - and can also be removed quickly and stowed in a pocket or bag in case you need to park your bike in the general population (hey, lets face it - scumbags will steal pretty much ANYTHING if given the opportunity!). I am truly amazed by those who claim they have lost one of these lights that has vibrated loose from the latching mount while riding. The Planet Bike mounting system is the most secure and versatile small bicycle light mounting system I have ever seen. You can mount one of their lights ANYWHERE that a safety light is needed! You can purchase an accessory mounting bracket from the Planet Bike site, epoxy it to the back of your head and mount a flashing light there that is visible for nearly a mile - and your head will fall off your shoulders before the light vibrates loose from its bracket (assuming the light is correctly latched into place)! At the risk of repeating myself, if you have one of these lights mounted to your bike, pack, helmet, child, shopping cart, etc. and someone says they didnt see it, they are either lying or blind. Optimum Visibility This light is so bright, it amazes me they are using LEDs. If you live in a high traffic area, its the ideal light to capture the attention of those drivers entranced in a cellphone daze. I initially purchased the black and clear 3034-1 model for my own bike Planet Bike 3034-1 Blinky Superflash .5 Watt LED with 2 Red LED Tail Lights (Black/Clear Case) and was left so impressed, I purchased 3 more for my wifes and kids bikes along with the Planet Bike Blinky "3H" Helmet Light Planet Bike Blinky "3H" 3-Led Rear Bicycle Light with Self Leveling Helmet Mount. These things can be seen from a good distance, even on bright, and sunny days. At night, you could pass for a firetruck when in strobe mode. Looking straight on is where the light is most intense, while at a side view, about 1/2 as much. Both models come with 3 mounting options - a backpack clip, a round mounting for your standard seatpost, and a smaller round mounting for when using the light on the thin tubes on your frame. Note that if you are mounting anywhere else but the seatpost or other perfectly round post on your frame, you may have to improvise with the mount especially if you have an odd shaped or flat tubed frame. Batteries are included. Ive been witness to too many near misses simply because drivers are not paying attention. Decrease your chance of being involved in an accident - use safety lights day or night. Safe travels! Amazing Product! After having a cheap rear light that came with my LED headlight that broke, I bought this. Its amazing! Very high viability with this light that puts others to shame. Only downside is that I like to use it in blink mode rather than steady and it seems to always want to go to steady when I push the button. Visibility is much higher with this little gem. With this, a headlight, and 2 sets of spok lits from nite ize, I am much more visible and much more confident about riding home from work in the evening. I joke that I now have the most obnoxious bike in the neighborhood but I dont fear as much that Im going to get hit. Happy cycling! Blinded by the light... Several friends mentioned this light as a great, midpriced rear tail-light. For background, I ride 1,000-1,500 miles a year, and just had my old light fail. WOW! that strobe is bright. There is no way you wont be noticed from behind while riding; any motor vehicle driver who says "I didnt see him/her" would be lying. Other positive points are that the light can either be mounted to a seatpost, or clipped either to clothing, or on the loop of an under-saddle pack, like mine is. Also, the light has a good, heavy gasket to make it near impervious to water, and a pressure switch that exposes none of the internal parts. Tail-lights generally run $10-40. For the $20 this light runs, its a best buy. SuperFlash vs Cherry Bomb I am writing this review after purchasing both the NiteRider Cherry Bomb and the Planet Bikes SuperFlash. Both lights work as advertized and are currently brighter than any other lights on the market. At night both lights are bright and will catch any drivers eye with their flash patterns. The difference between the two lights is the NiteRider Cherry Bomb stands out during the day. I placed both of the lights on my bike and had a friend ride the bike to the end of the city block. About half way to the end you would lose sight of the Planet Bikes SuperFlash. I could see the NiteRider Cherry Bomb all the way to the end of the block. After looking at both lights the SuperFlash loses some of its light before it hits the reflector as the LED is set back from it. The NiteRider Cherry Bombs main LED is set with the reflector and the plastic front acts as a light diffuser causing the light to be seen at a greater distance during the daylight hours. There is one drawback to the NiteRider Cherry Bomb, the battery life. The NiteRider Cherry Bomb is only supposed to work for 40 hours before the batteries go dead. The Planet Bikes SuperFlash is slated to run for 100 hours. If you are looking for a light to ride with at night then either light will work for you. If you commute or ride during the daytime on busy city streets and wish to have a light to be seen with, then go with the NiteRider Cherry Bomb. Very good back light for bike. I have to say after reading all the other reviews, this light is a very bright led light and works very well when attached to the back on my bike frame. Now I wont need to worry if people driving behind me can see me or not, so very good for safety. GREAT! I love the look of this light, as well as the functions. Its got different settings (flashing or fully on) and the light is extremely bright (if you flash yourself, youll be seeing stars)...I tried it out while night riding and its clearly visible and the variances in flashing modes give it good visibility for motorist...great value, great product. Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash - GREAT!! This was an awesome product!! Planet bike products are always well thought out. It was very compact and easy to install. Has several modes and is allows one to be seen from quite a distance. Highly recommend!! Definitely a SUPER Flash! The reflective part which is the biggest circle on the top part of the light is super bright. I have friends that own this light too and when we go our separate ways I would watch my friends leave and see how far I can spot the light from where I am at. From my perception, I noticed the light from at least half a mile away if not more. Im not really good at judging distance so it might have been more than half a mile but definitely not less. I would give it 5 stars but its not as easy to swap to different bikes like my knogg. Very Bright Great light. Someone would need to be blind, not to see you. Wish it came with a bolt through type clip for rear rack though. Otherwise, you cant beat this light for the price. Man, you can see thing from space! I made the mistake of staring into the light when I first turned it on. I think my retinas survived. This little light is compact, but it is bright. A must have if you ride when the sun isnt shining. They can't miss seeing me I have almost complete faith that, if I am seen by someone coming up behind me in a car, they will make at least a minimal effort to avoid hitting me. The trick then, is to make sure they see me. The flash this light puts out is hard to miss. Unlike the blinky which just blinks a red light, this little light strobes a very bright white light and then blinks. It is very attention getting. It can readily be seen even in daylight. I recommend this for anyone who finds themselves riding at night, dusk, dawn or in cloudy weather. It wont save you from drunks or psychopaths though, so keep an eye out for them. Wow! Super Bright! I couldnt believe how bright this little unit is. It has a blinking and a steady mode. Its the brightest rear bike light I have ever seen and the price is incredible. Best bang for your buck! Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash Ive tried several rear lights and this is without a doubt the best light Ive seen. It can be seen a long way away and Ive received many comments by motorists when stopped at red lights regarding its brightness. Ive used it about 60 hours so far and Im still on the original batteries. Other so-called bright lights Ive used have gone through batteries in a matter of a couple of rides but this one has not. I highly recommend this product. 30 Years of Cycling Brings Me To This I have been cycling for more than 30 years, and this is by far the best taillight Ive used. I keep one in each of my bike bags (a Berthoud saddle bag, and the Carradice Nelson Longflap and Barley) and one is attached to the rack of my commuter bike. Yes, PB actually does make a bracket that can be attached to the reflector spot on most rear racks. My LBS just happened to have one, but it is difficult to find. That is the one complaint I have about this light. Other than that, it has everything: a cant-miss flash pattern, seizure-inducing brightness and long battery life. Buy with confidence! The Best Yet Ive tried/owned several different styles of rear lights for my AM commute...this one is by far my favorite. Its so bright that I can see it light up the ground behind my cycle as I ride (in the dark of course). Its blinding to look at no matter if its day or night. And, I havent had to put any batteries in it even after >500 miles of riding. Best tail light under $50 The Planet Bike Superflash is by far the best bicycle tail light on the market that sells for less than $50. Better yet, they can be found on sale for less than $20. I commute by bike daily. After getting my Superflash, I was stopped at an intersection and a woman who passes me in her car every day rolled down her window to tell me that the thought my new tail light was great. It really got her attention better than my old light. The Superflash can be run in blinking or steady mode. There is quite a debate over which mode works best regarding visibility by motorists. They are cheap enough to buy two of them and run one steady and one flashing to cover both opinions. It has a clip and comes with two different sized mounts for mounting to your seatpost or seat stays for a variety of mounting options. best rear blinker out there lost a number of blackburn mars lights - usually before i swapped the batteries. no such problem with these. best out there. PBSF Tail Light I ride a bicycle 400 miles a week. Sometimes late in the evening and in the rain. The Planet Bike Super Flash is a Bright Great Light for the money. The Quality is great as well as the two mountng brackets. I bought Three of them. Ok product The light mounts were not very convenient to use if you want to put the light in a non-traditional way. However, the light is an attention- getter. It's bright You want to be seen, right? This light really delivers in that department. Bought it after my last light set got stolen, since my company supplies Nichia with some equipment, the main selling point for me was "Nichia 1/2 watt LED" on package. But having bought it, Im delighted. + uses cheap standard AAAs, not N size batteries + really bright + easy to mount + nice switch, doesnt seem to actuate when in your pocket if you remove it while parked - has a curious recess where the bright LED sits, so on a seatpost mounting without mudguards, it can collect mud to obscure the main light Best light Ive owned, and thats covering probably 25 or more. Very Nice ! This light is very nice for night riding i try 3 kinds of rear lights but this one is The Best ! Bike Flashers for Walkers I bought this flashing light to use for walking on the road for exercise in a rural area. It is always a stretch to use something for other than its intended purchase. As a test I sent my Amish friend Jakie in his buggie in the opposite direction and believe you me he could see me from plenty far way. You dont want to accidently get run over by a horse and buggy during your exercise walks. The flashing pattern catches the eye (different from anything else on the road), the LEDs are bright, you can easily clip it to even heavy clothing with the standard clip, and the batteries last a long time. I feel much safer walking with this product and part of the money goes to advancing the use of bicycles as transportation so both sides win! Buy it if you are thinking about it, you will not be disappointed. Very bright indeed Very bright light (especially based on its size). Solid construction. Only reason Im not giving it 5 stars is because it would have been nice to change the orientation of the light since I cant attach it on my backpack horizontally; it would point downward otherwise. Great light! Excellent Blinky light This planet bike blinky superflash is really like reported by others. It is so bright if you ride to close to it it annoys you. You can see it from at least 1/4 mile back. Its an amazing little light, and very easy to install. Bright light This is a bright little light. I have not checked prices lately but this version with the black/clear lens was listed for less than the version with the red lens when I made my purchase. Not sure why this is as they both flash red and I think this one looks better. Good: -Bright light. -2 modes (Flash or constant on). -Attention getting flash pattern. -Comes with two mounts for different size tubing with rubber shims. Bad: -Although it comes with two different diameter mounts there is a vast difference in diameter between the two. I was unable to get the light mounted on the tubing of a child trailer with the supplied parts. Luckily, I purchased two of these lights and was able to combine the shims to make it fit. -Most expensive tailight I have seen. -Mother-in-law purchased a couple of tailights from the dollar store not knowing that I had ordered these. They are nearly as bright although they only have a belt clip. For a buck it is hard to justify this one.... -Made in China. Overall: Happy with purchase. This item has fullfilled my tail light needs although the price is a little high. The perfect rear blinkie This light is simply the best out there. First off there are no moving parts. The button to turn on the light is encased in the bottom of the light, so you essentially squeeze the light on the top and bottom to turn it on. The 1/2 watt "super flash" is blinding. A friend of mine has the same light and I get a nice headache along with huge red flashes whenever I draft him! Ive used rear red flashing LED lights in the past, but nothing compares to the attention youll get with this one. I am always confident that I am seen -- in fact, Im nervous that some day Ill actually piss off a driver. Other random comments on this light: - The mounting bracket is removable so you have mounting options (like attaching directly to a bike rack) - The bracket that comes with the light holds very tightly and has notched small "pins" that help it grip on whatever its clipped on (Ive attached this light to my fuel belt while running at night) - If your front light went dead, you could get away with using this rear blinkie as a "poor mans front light". Ive never been able to claim this of other rear lights for this price point. Superb flasher! Got a new mountain bike for our 10 year old boy this xmas and added this Super Flasher. This thing gets drivers attention. Its incredibly bright even from a block away. Very happy with the results. The Best tail light flasher. Bar None This is the best. Forget the rest. Look at the 80 other 5-star ratings. the visibility is great, the battery life is great. It can be seen from very far away. Is about $20 and is pretty much the best light accessory you can buy. I have two and have bought it for every biker I care about. You should too! best rear bike light made The Planet Bike Super Flash has the best performance and value hands down. My husband and I are commuters and have tried various other rear light models including the Mars 3.0. We believe its because of the intensity and intervals of the LED flash that makes the Super Flash catch more attention. (you can search for comparison videos online) Amazon usually has the most reasonable price around. the best bike tail light I've found, buy one and be seen! This thing is incredibly bright, uses standard batteries, is a nice small size, and is easy to remove. I love the fact that its not red until lit which looks better on my classic beach cruiser. It is also available with a red lens if you prefer that look. It is blazingly bright for a small light that operates on standard batteries. The only possible down side is because it can be easily removed, it can also easily be stolen. Just something to be aware of if you leave your bike locked in urban areas. A Great Light, buy one and be seen! FOR DAYTIME USE !! STAY ALIVE! USE THIS TAIL LIGHT! Almost our entire cycling group (varies from 8-15/ride) uses either this Planet Bike Superflash taillight or the now discontinued Serfas TL1000 taillight on DAYTIME rides, because either one effectively calls attention to our presence from 1/3 to 1/2 mile away, EVEN IN SUNLIGHT. Daytime use started with one person in early summer. Within a few weeks everyone realized the value of these lights in enhancing safety during our one to three hour daylight rides and got one or the other. Any blinky light works reasonably well in the dark (except in brightly lit urban environs.) Whats needed is something that calls attention to us during the daytime. Only these do the job well; the others are barely noticeable. Both come with seatpost and with seat stay mounts. Neither is made for non-cylindrical attachment points, such as the aero seatposts and stays on triathlon specific bikes. However, copper pipe insulation foam around non cylindrical seat stays makes it possible to mount the Superflash on such bikes. Get one for your bike; your survival chances will improve -- if you use it! These remarks also apply to the Superflash Stealth model, which has a clear lens even though the lights are red. Best Taillight I've Found If you can find a brighter AA battery-powered tail light on the planet than the Planet Bike Blinky, please let me know. It bounced off! The removability is a nice idea, but mine bounced off the mount after just a few uses (and because I didnt notice it until the end of my 8-mile morning commute, I never found it again). Impressively bright, but if I get another -- and I may -- Ill zip-tie it down. Excellent product for the money I have been commuting by bike during the darker days of late fall and early winter, and was quite concerned about being seen by cars. The addition of this light has made a huge difference in my visibility. I now use 2 lights on the back of my bike, but this one is the one that really helps me to be seen. The flashing mode is awesome. Compact and Bright Light! I bought 2 of these lights for my wife and I due to high ratings in bike forums. This is a nice bright LED light. The bright flash is directional, meaning you have to be fairly close to in line with the tail light. Though the whole case lights up as well. I really like the clear lens and the black case matches our bike frames. I highly recommend this blinky light for bike commuters. Love it! Limited mounting choices Its very bright. Both the flashing and steady modes are very visible from behind. If you can mount it under the seat and you dont have a seat bag, itll be fine. Unfortunately, I wanted to install it on the rear rack on my commuting bike. I couldnt install it under the seat because my seat bag would block it, and I couldnt install it on the rear stays because the panniers would block it. I ended up making a custom bracket that I bolted to the rear rack and to which I attached the light. Id also prefer a slightly larger light that takes AA batteries. When safety is paramount.... There really is not a better product in this price range. If you ride on the street with cars, you will be noticed which is after all the intention. I have this product on my Trek road and mountain bikes and cars really do move out of your way. The Planet Bike 1/2 watt and 1 watt light for the front of your bike also works equally well for a reasonable cost. The BEST!!!!! This little light has flew off my bike twice due to hitting BIG pot holes(enough to give me a flat twice) both times I was going very fast. Needless to say the super flash hit the ground and broke into pieces. Both times I decided to try to retrieve the pieces and mange to find them all and put it back together. Both times and to this day the damn thing is still flashing as bright as ever. The greatest light EVER made.GOD BLESS PLANET BIKE.....AND AMERICA.....and beer. Thanks Simply the BEST bicycle light. It is rare to find a product today that FAR exceeds all the rest. This Planet Bike Blinky is head and shoulders above the many other good lights. It is Bright, Bright, BRIGHT!!! - compact, and well constructed. All of the flashing lights are red and the lens cover is clear. This allows the light to be seen in daylight as well as at night. I combine this Planet SuperFlash with the CatEye TL-LD150 White (the brightest white flasher) for maximum visibility. If you or your children are biking on the roads - this is a must. Also good for childrens backpacks. The best light I ordered 2 of these lights and they work great. They are extremely bright and very small. They come with a seat post mount and the light it self has a slide on type mount. The two mounts work together, so you can slide the light on and off your bike at will and also you are able to attach the light to anything using the slide on mount. Things like your backpack, your pocket or anything with a thin edge. This has to be the best rear bike light out there right now. Be safe, be seen, stay alive Whatever else may be said about visibility at night, this light is hard to ignore. At night the flash mode is bright enough to be seen by motorists from a far greater distance than other "blinky" lights. Its definitely an attention grabber. It may be a pricier than most, but its cheap life insurance and way cheaper than a visit to the hospital. Excellent light! This light from Planet Bike is one of the greatest bicycle products on the market today. Ask anyone who uses them, they are super bright, durable, and good on batteries. The battery size is also a commonly used AAA, not a watch battery or odd size. Should you have any problems, Ive heard customer service at Planet Bike is excellent. I would give this item an A+ Super Flash is Great This light is awesome. With the bright LED blinking, its hard not to be seen. Anything to help from being run over is something needed. Great light This light was even brighter than I had expected. It is very visible from far away. It has a clip for wearing, but I found the removable mounting clips to be even easier and more convenient to use. This light is fantastic for being seen! Clear case but red LEDs This sorta makes no sense. The item description clearly states the LED is red and it/they are, although states 2 and there are 3. The clear case begs to be used as a headlight but the LEDs flash red rather than white. This product could be greatly improved with white LEDs. Blindingly bright Its nearly impossible to ride behind a rider with this light flashing. The bright LED is ideal for dusk when some daylight remains, it cuts through to following drivers eyes. Ive installed these on three steeds. Hands down one of the brightest taillights out there right now. This thing is bright and well built. I have not had any problems with it so far. Because of its brightness, I use it day and night and feel much safer with it. Great design in theory, poor quality control I have tested countless rear bicycle tail lights. No tail light so far is without problems. Planet Bike makes very good products. To be considered a great tail light a few requirements must be met: Easy, secure mounting, great optics for viewing straight on and from the sides, and a durable, quality switch. Planet Bike has a good, not great mount (the light tends to jiggle in the mount, which may simply be a quality control issue, not a design issue), very good straight on optics, and average optics from the side. Where is fails is in the switch category. I have purchased 4 of these lights, and two of them have defective switches. The light will change modes (from on to off to blinking) when you hit minor defects in the road. 3 stars for the light (very good straight on viewing, average side viewing), 3 stars for the mount, and 0 stars for the switch, arrives at the 2 star rating. They need to either use a Cateye type switch, or a Princeton Tec Swerve type switch. Extremely Visible, Even in least ideal conditions I bought this taillight based on the reviews here on amazon, but I hesitated to provide a review because how am I really supposed to judge how well it works while I am on my bike? Well today I was driving my car on a very heavily lit busy street, in very foggy conditions, and as I was driving I turned the corner and was immediately aware of a very prominent and frankly slightly annoying blinking red light. It was visible between tons of cars and street lamps, and I drove up closer to try and figure out what light it was and sure enough it was the same light I had purchased for my bike. This to me was plenty of proof that I would not be looked over when I was on my bike, as this light was almost more apparently than all the car tail lights I saw. Amazing. super bright much brighter than the other lights I have used, small, reasonably light, perfect clip for the back of my seatpost bag. Standard batteries. Love it! Bright, attention grabbing, works! Attachment to bike OK. The light itself is great! Approximately 2x1x1", sturdy, relatively water resistant, and doesnt seem to be prone to damage. The button is well designed covered by the plastic case (press lightly on the case, which will then press the hidden button). As for the light, works very well, grabs attention during day and night! Focused to point in a straight cone, but has light to the sides and top/bottom (overall visible from side and back; best for cars coming from behind). Blink pattern is blink blink blink BLINK BLINK (very fast blinks, from the 2 small LEDs and then twice from the larger LED). Also has steady ON mode. Only bad thing is the attachment mechanism. Its plasticky, average construction (doesnt seem like it will break though), not very sleek, and might allow the light to accidentally tilt if not tightened completely. There are three given ways to attach: 1 use the clip (which is non removable, but replaceable if broken), bad thing is that the clip will allow it to point down, causing the bright spot to point away from cars. 2 use the seat post clamp (comes with thick and thin rubber liners to increase grip on the seat post), works good UNLESS you have a seat bag, which may get in the way. 3 Attach to seat stay (the slanting bar connecting the rear wheel to seat). This lowers the position of the light, which *might* block visibility. Other than that, I like this position. Bright, attention grabbing, works! Blink pattern is blink blink blink BLINK BLINK (very fast blinks, three times from the 2 small LEDs and then twice from the larger LED). Also has steady ON mode. The mounting mechanism is quite good. Though its not sleek on the bike, it works well. There is a larger binder (designed for the seat post) and a smaller one (for seatstay). It connects well, light does not slip out when going over bumps or rocky paths. Only if you like inflicting seizures on the drivers behind you I bought this light before I really did the math. All the reviews here say its great, but everyone seems to use it on flash mode, which I dont like. Its difficult for drivers to gauge the speed and distance of a frantically flashing and blinking light, which is why there are so many laws on the books all over the world banning the mode. So, this has a steady mode, but if Im doing my math right, two 1000 mAh AA batteries can only light a half-watt LED for a shade over 6 hours. Thats not bad, but I like my rear light to be my last resort light that almost never dies. Plus, most of the light is wasted on a very tight beam, making this just a 2-dollar, disposable tail light to any cars not directly behind you and the perfect distance back to be right where youve aimed the beam. Im going to keep looking for something that will give me a long-lasting, steady glow. You want to be noticed? This is it! Other reviewers have raved about this tail light and I have to agree. It is very bright and easily seen by cars approaching you from behind. Where it shine best (no pun intended) is during the dawn or dusk hours. I find riding bicycle during that time the scariest because you think you can be seen but honestly there has been times where I have been scared out of my wits because cars didnt see you even though there was still some sun light left. Having this very bright blinking tail light will definitely get drivers attention and minimize chance of getting into accident. Perfect light but.. This is my best rear flash light I have ever used so far for the visibility, strength and practice. However, this is not enough if you cant fit it in a visible solid place. If you have a seat bag like I do you have to give up either that or the light as the light will not be visible and will be blocked by the bag. Knowing that you cant just raise the seat randomly and your leg when spread has to be at least 10 degrees, this is a problem. It only comes with 1 typical mounting solution which doesnt work for my bicycle. The bracelet is not flexible and the light itself will not mount on just any other bracelets. If you want to mount it on the side bridge you may lose flexibility as the flash would have to point up and lose its famous sharp visibility. Unless you install it up side down, but then you may lose the flash on a bump or shock. I started looking for another bag to set it up somewhere else so I can install the super flash under the seat. Unfortunately, they dont mention this significant issue in the description. If you are buying the super flash to install it under the seat and you dont use a seat bag, then this is PERFECT for you and youll love it. VERY BRIGHT LIGHT EXTREMELY BRIGHT LIGHT. Viewable distance is excellent. But the best part is the flashing scheme. It does not flash like any ordinary flasher. It has 2 smaller LEDs that flash together and there is big strobe LED that flashes out of sync from the other 2 LEDs. This light pattern catches the attention of drivers much better than a regular flashing LED. Beautiful light - horrible mounting system The light is bright like everyone is saying. My problem is one day I looked down and it was gone - jumped the mount. I was riding over a lot of rocks and I guess it popped out. That had me really steamed. I also had a air pump that shook apart too. All the mounting systems are very similar, but I cannot afford to spend whatever it is for a light, nice as it is and have to take it off all the time or buy a new one when it falls off. Someone should come up with a flexible mounting standard, all of the ones I have seen are terrible. Great product This is an amazing bright and easy to use light. Much easier to mount than others, and impossibly bright. When you first turn it on, dont stare into the LED - its that bright. A life saver - literally. Seriously Bright This is an amazing light: seriously (almost blindingly) bright and very red, yet its black and white when its off. I lost mine about a month after I bought it. I quickly bought another. There is really nothing else like it. Bright light I saw this light in a local bike shop but didnt want to pay what they were asking for it. The Amazon deal was about right. The light is very bright and visable even in daylight conditions. Good deal. wonderful light....very bright....well made i had read lots of reviews before making my light purchase. i was scared off from the others that claimed to be poorly made, flemsy, or dim. i chose this planet bike blinky super flash and am very very pleased. makes me very visible on dark, morning commutes to work. i even use it in day time just in case. this thing is small but powerful. its about the size of a large thumb, but that is great with me. i use the clip on back of the light to attach it to my backpack. no problems there at all. i also like that the light is visible from the sides, too. id be surprised if you were able to find a higher quality light for the money. Nice light. Missing design feature. This is a great light in almost all ways. Super-bright main LED, attention grabbing alternating secondary LEDs. But its mounting system sux. The Bike Industry seems to have abandoned the old universal style of mounting bracket (I see this on other lights, and racks, too), and seem to be designing lights to be mounted to either the seat post or the chainstay... neither of which work if you have a seat bag and racks with panniers. What would have been 5-stars for a nifty little light gets only 3. My no frills review: this is the best bike tail light you can buy. I am a bike commuter. The Planet Bike Superflash is simply the very best bicycle blinky tail light you can purchase. Amazingly, it also is dirt cheap. Look no further. Buy several and give them to your friends. I have both clear and red ones, and they both perform the exact same. The battery lasts forever, and the lights themselves are indestructible. The only thing better than one of these Superflash tail lights is TWO Superflash tail lights. I have one on my helmet and one on my rear rack. I have had cars stop me in the pre-dawn morning to tell me that they could see me two miles away. They had no idea what the bright red light was, but they saw me. Seriously, WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR A NON-BICYCLIST IN A CAR TO STOP AND COMPLIMENT YOU ON YOUR AMAZING BLINKY LIGHT? Very bright This is the best rear light I have had - and the smallest. On a recent early morning ride that started in the dark the rider behind me when it was light asked me to turn off the light because it is so distracting and bright. No need to spend money on anything more expensive. I cant change a light bulb at home but had no trouble mounting this just below my seat. Great product! Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash 1/2-Watt Blaze LED Plus 2 eXtreme LED Rear Bicycle Light If you want to be really seen, then this is the only rear bicycle light to buy! very pleased This little unit is very adequate for any time of day or night. Very eye catching. We own 4 of them and are well pleased. Super bright! This light is super bright, and it has two alternating flash patterns which many other lights do not have. This light really makes you stand out! It's definitely brighter than a blink The new Superflash is equally as bright as the original Blinky. The clear case blends better with a bike. Thats the only major difference I see. I have had 3 different tail lights on my recumbent but switched to the Blinky after seeing it on many club rider bikes. The flash bulb like blink is what gets peoples attention. Its inexpensive and the battery life is great. Buy it. Especially if you have not bought a tail light yet. Good light, plenty bright, maybe a little too bundeled The planet bike blinky super flash (what a name) is small, very bright light that doubles as a flash light. I had rather given up the latter function for a more broad bundle (like 90-180 degrees) for better side visibility but over all it is plenty bright from all sides. It has two modes, continues and an interesting flashing pattern. The big LED gives a double flash and then the two smaller LEDs give two flashes. It flashes quite fast. Although I have not had it long enough to test it, it seems durable but a little fragile. It is opened by twisting a coin or screwdriver. This works well, but I would not open it every week to recharge the batteries. (So I use non-rechargeable batteries which it even had installed upon delivery.) It has a small weather sealing which so far worked well, I used it in rain without problem. (but it is mounted under the saddle, so somewhat protected from rain.) It comes with mounts to mount it on the seat post or on thinner tubes like the one next to the rear wheel. Very Bright, best of class As far as rear bike lights go - this is the best Ive seen. Comes with fittings for your seat tube or chain stay - which is cool. Also has a clip built in that allows you place it on a backpack or clothing. As close to perfection (though not quite there) as Ive seen. Plus Planet Bike donates to charity.....cool! The blinky superflash Well I bought two of these lights. Ive used them several times since purchase. The reason that I bought them and the reason that I like them is that they are very visible. Great for evenings and cloudy days. Another nice feature is it has a clip on the light which allows one to clip it on the back of the bike bag when needed. It does have tube mounts but I do not plan to use those. Highly recommended. Light, bright and well-designed for mountains or roads Im impressed with this light. I do a lot of downhill mtn-bike riding and wanted a light that was bright, as well as durable enough to stay on the bike in the rough stuff. This light is small, super bright and has a pretty solid mount. There are two standard LEDs with one super bright one. I actually have the one that has white LED covers (not red), but the LEDs are red (not white). It has several mounting options and the mounting clip is... well simple, but also just well-designed. There are only 2 modes (flashing or steady) which is enough and makes turning the light on and off simple. The light is also easy to turn on and off and I can do it while Im riding. Im not one to carry a pack while I do a daily ride, and I dont like stuffing hard objects in my pocket for risk of crashing. The trails are a few miles from my house, so I often return at dusk or in the dark. This light lets me do it without the hassle, weight or need to constantly remove and re-attach the light. I just leave it on. However, if you lock your bike, the mounting bracket has a clip, so you can remvoe the light in a snap. Well Designed and Bright Im impressed with this light. Its a quality made 2 mode tail light that is easy to change the 2 AAA batteries when needed. Just use a coin or key to pop it open and install the batteries and snap it back togather. It has a rubber seal to keep the rain out. The flashing mode uses 3 leds and in the constant mode it only uses 1 led so no matter which mode you run it in the battery life is about the same which is really good. Its actually bright enough in the constant "ON" mode on a really dark path or road that one could use it as a headlight! Not that anybody would use it for that but its just that bright! It could be annoying to some if there stuck sitting behind you in a car when its pretty dark and at a stop light. lol It can be seen at a 180 degree viewing angle. A great bike safty investment and a must have! The Planet Bike 1/2 watt Super flash tail light is the one I us all the time for day and night ridding! Unbelievably Bright, And Surprisingly Small If your goal is maximum visibility at night, then this is the rear bike light for you. As soon as I started using this light, cars began giving me extremely wide berths when passing me. One was using the other lane entirely. The main LED is quite honestly PAINFULLY BRIGHT to look directly into, and blinks fast enough to give someone an epileptic seizure. Plainly said, it is simply impossible to notice this rear light at night. I highly reccomend it. It is surprisingly small though, only a little larger than the size of your thumb, but that is to the better because it will fit anywhere on your bike. Excellent Its really bright, hooks on and off easily, and well priced. Get seen and this will really highlight your tail! Safer Riding This light is wonderful because it is bright enough to be seen in daylight. That is very useful for cloudy, rainy or just gray days. It makes me feel much safer riding in marginal conditions when I know that I can be seen. So far the light has performed flawlessly and stood up to rain and vibration. Best tail light Best tail light I have found. You can pay more for other lights but you wont find one that is brighter, and with a more eye catching flash pattern. Ive got two of them on the rear of my bike and can be seen 1/2 mile away. Ive had other riders stop and ask me about these lights, as none of the area bike shops carry them. Be Seen & Be Safe! If you are looking for an inexpensive, long-lasting, very bright, eye-catching rear flasher, then it is hard to go wrong with this one. It is easy on batteries, easy to mount, and easy to remove. There were some other reviews I read before purchasing this that claimed the mount was inadequate and easy to break. I dont see how that is true. Mine is mounted to the seat post, solid, and I ride like a maniac over railroad crossings and other road imperfections. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the switch is a little awkward (it is a pressure switch instead of an actual button) and the batteries are a little awkward to replace (you need a coin or screwdriver to pop it open). Overall, really insignificant details when you consider the price and how much more safe you will be while using this product. What a light! I live in a smallish city, so we dont exactly have streetlights everywhere. In fact, with the fall closing in and my unwillingness to admit that its getting cold, ive been wearing my sweaters and jackets more often, which just so happen to be dark green and black and grey. No matter. This light is so bright that when im riding home after my late class, i never worry. Ive only had the light for a few months now, so i cant attest to the longevity, but this is one tough little blinky. Last night i was commuting home from my 7pm class and i got caught in the rain. Pretty nasty stuff, actually. I got soaked. My glasses were fogged up. My light stayed on, didnt fill up with water, didnt short out and kept blinking so that even though i was wearing dark jeans and a black hoodie (with a grey backpack....maybe i need to change these things a little bit) i was still visible. This thing is so bright. I love it. Amazing Device Straight out of Star Trek Purchased this because of the great reviews online. It is super compact and SUPER BRIGHT! If you strapped a couple of these on the roof of your car people would pull over. The only better way to be seen on a bike would be to set yourself on fire! Great product with an amazing price. Blinkie the best I use this light for rowing on a river in the dark. Other boats say it is the brightest and have no trouble spotting me. Planet Bike Blinky rear light Great product; compact and super bright. Flashing mode is very visible. Nice range of mounting options (seat post, rear stay, or clip to a cycle bag). Highly recommended. When your life is at stake, get the best that money can buy. Ive logged more than 30,000 miles on a bicycle. Hands down...this light is amazing! The strobe effect demands attention and overall the brightness is spectacular. Two more factors to consider are: * AAA batteries (cheaper and easier than watch-size or N-size to replace) * Extremely long battery life of up to 100 hours (remarkable, considering how bright this light actually is) Spend a couple of extra bucks (just like one should for a good helmet) and youll likely NEVER know about the dangers it helped you avoid all together. Very bright, very noticeable This is a very good running light. As everyone else says, in flash mode, it is very noticible and helps keep you safe when you ride in evening or night. About the only minor negative is that the mount is a little bit flimsy, but still good enough. Planet Bike is just amazing. I dont think they know how to make a bad product or over-price a product. SuperFlash is RIGHT! This thing is nothing less than amazing. You WILL get noticed, especially when the sun goes down. Truckers, cars, bikers, and pedestrians will all look over to see what the heck is blinking insanely. Any brighter and it might just be a road hazard to drivers. Ive been biking for a long time now and have tried many different types of blinking taillights from various manufacturers. They were all either too cheap and brittle, or just didnt live up to their claims. Not this little thing from Planet Bike. Best tail light for the price BY FAR I, like other reviewers, was surprised at the size of this light. The gal at my LBS told me she loved the light and then showed me how bright it was. I was stunned to see that a light using so little amps could punch out such a bright, red light. It was nearly as bright as my camera flash and just kept going and going. I also thought that it would eat batteries for lunch, but it doesnt. I use Ni-Mh batteries (I want to save the planet) and it runs just a bit under Alkaline batteries for time. This light can and should be used in the daytime. I get comments from people that say they could easily see me from about 200-300 meters. I have seen only one light brighter and that is the DiNotte light, but that light can run you $200 (and it is worth that). I would even recommend this for walking or jogging. The PB Blinky will do the job in most cases. Super bright, small, easily mounted and inexpensive. Your life is worth the light. They should be mandatory by law. Terrifyingly bright As everyone else has said, this thing is great. Its honestly an order of magnitude brighter than anything else out there, and the weird pattern of the two sets of LEDs makes it much more noticeable as well. You can definitely see this thing from hundreds of yards away even in full daylight. The only negative is you need to make sure you hear a click when sliding into the mount. It can look fully seated but vibrate out on rough roads otherwise. Once you hear the click, it stays in through anything. Simply amazing light! Just like everyone else says, this thing is so bright and tiny it is unbelievable. Clip is very strong and fits on the back of my Topeak bike rack. Even in the daytime this light can be seen from a distance. Nothing else like it! Very blinky! I cycle to work and I needed something for the dawn/dusk time period. This light is great! The LEDs are nice and bright and you can use rechargeable batteries with it. One simple button press turns it on in blinker mode, another press switches it to steady mode, and then another one turns it off. The blinker mode is a pattern thats *very* visible and calls attention to itself which is perfect. It comes with a number of mounts but not one that will allow you to attach it directly to a rack which is a separate, but inexpensive, purchase (Planet Bike Bicycle Tail Light Rack Bracket - 3108). I use a basic clip that it came with and clip it to one of my bags although I will be picking up the mount soon. I recommend using rechargeable batteries and keep an extra set of alkaline with you as backups in case you suddenly need them. If a piece breaks, you can go to Planet Bikes website and order a replacement part. They state that in order to promote fixing something instead of throwing it away and buying a new one, they will waive the shipping fee! Awesome. Nothing short of incredible!!! I have tried many different tail lights, cateye and others. I went for my first ride with this on a two hour (32 miles), total dark, road ride. Without exception, every motorized vehicle that passed me gave me a wide berth. I have NEVER experienced such respect while night riding. I dont know if they though they thought I was a cop cycling or what!! Incredible light pattern and brightness. I already had a Cateye with 5 kickin LEDs and thought of having two tailights. Not necessary. Get the Super Flash and get respect. Bright and Irregular!! Ive been bike commuting for over a year now and as I ride around the city, I tend to check out other peoples lights. Several months ago, when the weather got light enough to not need lights when I rode, I resolved that Id invest in this light when I went back to night-riding. I love it! The irregular flash pattern is incredibly easy to pick up and its very, very bright. Definitely recommend! Particularly for the price! Great light Very bright, with a strong clip, and simple to use. You need a screwdriver to take the mount off, though. I was hit by a car and the light flew into pieces, but nothing actually broke and once put back together it was good as new. Great tail light This is a great bike tail light. Its very visible and I mostly use it in the flash mode. When a friend rides behind me, they claim it is too bright for comfort. This is what is needed for a biker to be seen at night. I wouldnt be without it. GREAT BUY - GET 1 OR 2 FLAT OUT - THIS IS A GREAT LIGHT TO HAVE. YOU CAN MOUNT IT ON VARIOUS PARTS OF THE BIKE WITH A LITTLE IMAGINATION AND ADDITIONAL MOUNTING BRACKET (NOT JUST THE SEAT POST). YOU CAN MOUNT IT ON THE FRAME OF CERTAIN BIKES LIKE ROAD BIKES/HYBRIDS LEAVING ROOM FOR BAGS, FENDERS, WATER BOTTLES, ETC ON THE SEAT POST. THE ONLY MINOR COMPLAINT FOR ME IS THE MOUNTING BRACKET NOT BEING QUICK RELEASE BUT I CAN LIVE WITH THAT FOR THE QUALITY OF LIGHT YOU GET PLUS THE LIGHT DOES COME OFF WITH A RELEASE SYSTEM LEAVING THE BRACKET IN PLACE. IT IS VERY BRIGHT WITH 2 MODES - BLINKING AND ON. PEOPLE WILL SEE YOU UNLESS THEY ARE BLIND OR THEY ARE OUT TO GET YOU - LOL. IT CAME WITH BATTERIES AND IM STILL USING THE ONES IT CAME WITH AFTER MONTHS OF USE. THIS LIGHT COST TWICE AS MUCH IN THE BIKE SHOPS. I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THIS ITEM 5 STARS IF IT WERENT FOR THE MOUNTING BRACKET. MAYBE THE NEW VERSION WILL BE QUICK RELEASE. ALL IN ALL THIS IS A VERY GOOD DEAL BLINKS UP A STORM! I bought two, one for each of my bikes. It was a snap to attach the Blinky to my Trek Soho hybrid, but the coupling would not fit around the stem of my Bianchi 928 Carbon Veloce. So, I attached it to my Bianchi lower, way under the seat, just above the rear brake so as not to interfere with the braking system. It doesnt point straight back, but the strobe lights are piercing enough to tell a driver beware. Very good the Blinky detaches from the snap unit. I carry it in my hydration pack, taking it out to snap on the bike when necessary. Overall it is a gr8 product. If Planet Bike could include an alternate method for thicker stems, it would get 5 stars! Awesome Light This light is so bright and obnoxious that everyone notices it. We both ride Terratrike recumbent tadpoles and when my wife and I ride together whomever is in front has to turn their rear blinky light off. Talk about being in your face, This light is great! Traffic definately notices us! Great light This light is insanely bright. I have no doubts that I will be visible in the night/dawn/dusk/fog, etc. Best Tail Light for the money I have to say that for the money this is the best light available. It is blinding at night. My first night ride with this light people couldnt believe how much light this put out! This is a "be seen" light! I love it! Great Bike Light I ride my bike in the summer months usually early in the morning (before sunrise) or late in the evening (after sunset) just about every day. The reason is that it is cooler. Bought this bike light to improve my visibility - especially to cars sharing the road with me. Basically I just clip the light on the back of my backpack and turn it on or off as needed. I am very pleased with this light. Easy to use, lasts a long time (up to 100 hours) on a single pair of AAA batteries, and throws out a huge amount of light, making me visible from the back for 50 to 100 feet to cars approaching me from the rear. There are cheaper lights out there, but they do not work as well, and when you factor in the cost of a funeral or hospital trip that can be avoided by use of this light, the price (just under $18) seems quite reasonable to me. 5 stars Concurrence Just adding another 5-star data point - I bought two of these and they are indeed BRIGHT. Mounting was easy and solid. Great product. Super bright The light is compact and brighter than all the others in my cycling group. I have not replaced the batteries so I dont know how tough that is yet. Two sizes of tube mounts are included to mount to a seat tube, a smaller tube or it can be snapped onto a loop of a cargo bag. To be seen... Planet Bike 3034-1 Blinky Superflash .5 Watt LED with 2 Red LED Tail Lights (Black/Clear Case) Great tail light for your bike for a good price... Look up some videos at YouTube if you dont believe how great it is. I recommment it to everyone who rides a bike. Sometimes I clip it to my backpack to make sure cars see me in the evening/night when walking at places without pavement. To make sure... this is a red LED light, not a white one, it just has clear case. I also bought the one in red case (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KBEH1W) and it works and looks the same (except the different color of the case). One is for my bro... Im very satisfied... 5 stars! Bright, innovative blink This is a very bright taillight, but its most innovative feature is its blink pattern. Its not the standard blink/strobe, so it really sticks out. My Blackburn Mars is a wee bit brighter, but the blink pattern on this is more noticeable. I think the two are fairly comparable. The only downside to this light is that it would be difficult to mount to a rack and the clip is diminutive and not practical for mounting the light securely to a bag or your helmet. If youre mounting it to your seat post you shouldnt have any problems. Bright and blinky! ....And BRIGHT! The others have pretty much said all there is to say: This is a very bright and easy to see rear light with a unique flash sequence that gets noticed. Between this light and my neon yellow windbreaker saying you didnt see me isnt going to be believed by anyone. Blinky is the best Ive tried several tail lights for my commuting these last three years. This is by far the best. Its super bright and has the craziest blinking pattern out there - the two most valuable trails for any light that might save you from getting hit from behind. Its very light and at less than $20 is a bargain. If youre looking for a tail light, this is the one to buy. Distractingly bright I have this light and the Mars 3.0. Both have great visibility all around, but Superflash is brighter. The blinking pattern is very attention getting (in a distracting way). Great price for a great product Im very happy with my purchase! Extremely bright, waterproof, durable, easy to use and easy to install. Best blinky out there This light is the brightest rear flasher Ive ever seen. I even use it during the day - its that bright. You cant beat the price and the new color scheme (clear/black) make it more inconspicuous when its off. Its the best deal for the money, for sure. Almost makes capitalism worth it! Im pretty skeptical of most products and companies. If you are not being outright farmed, even the good products are not all that. But, every time I turn on this blinky, "Wow, that is fing great!". It is stupidly wonderful. Planet Bike already made the second best blinky, the Seven, which is really good and somewhat cheaper. They could have just improved that a little and been fine. Instead they gave us the alien technology blinky from the future. Seriously, this is almost perfect. Solid, good mounts, convenient, excellent battery life, good size, inexpensive if not cheap, almost too bright, very attention getting blink pattern. It is so effective that you can hear when it is on just by the sound of overtaking traffic. It would be nice if it had a wider coverage angle to the sides and up and down, but this is difficult to do. The Planet Bike Seven has extra LEDs that point sideways to help with this, but it is nowhere near as bright (it would be a good complement to the Superflash). Planet bike also make the best headlight mount in the business. Unfortunately, their LED headlights fail to impress. Hopefully they will put the Superflash team on the headlights soon. The other blinkys are just sad. Except the DiNotte, which is sexy, bright, beautiful and well over a hundred dollars and might get stolen and make you cry. Sleek, bright rear flasher This is a bright, red rear flasher with a unique flash pattern that catches attention when it is switched on. It has flash mode, constant on, and off. The mount is sturdy but it did loosen up the first time since I was too careful about overtightening and scratching the frame. I used some black electrical tape on the frame and remounted, and now its working great. Also, I like the "stealth" look it has when its off... Great light Installs and removes very easily. Very bright. I has 2 small LEDs that blink (2x) and then the big one at the top flashes. The top LED is very bright. Mine is mounted to the seat post. The light has 2 options: (1) flashing mode or (2) steady mode (just the top, bright LED stays on constantly. I liiiiiike it ! Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2GL4WTURQZ8XX Flash pattern is ideal I have the "stealth" version of this light. Same light but with all clear housing. As a car driver and a bike commuter I know that there have been times I have been driving when I knew there was a flashing light somewhere in the area, but it took me a few seconds to localize it.. i.e., figure out exactly where it was coming from. This light is different.. the flash pattern consists of flash flash FLASH, with the third flash being provided by a brighter LED. The two dimmer flashes help ensure the light will be easy on batteries, while still helping drivers figure out where you are, especially in rain. The bright flash will catch their eye first, allowing teh dimmer flashes to let them home in on you. I have been considering buying a second one to leave on in the steady mode.. that way youd have to be near blind to not see me at night! SuperSuperFlash Got this tail light today, it was defected. 1 of the two weaker LEDs was not working, not a big deal. Let Niagara Cycle know and they got back to me right away told me they are going to send a new one, with paid shipping to ship the old one back. Which is really cool, not having me send the old one back first and waiting all that time. But even with that one LED out the light is still super bright! It hurts to look at. Makes me feel safe knowing that I blind the cars in back of me, but at least they know Im there and not to get to close. The flash pattern is very unique and visible between all the lights you would see on a street in the city. Its almost like a little cop light on your bike. All and all this is a great light and is a must for night time riding. If youre like me and have a solid black bike, you need all the lights you can get! ABSOLUTELY five stars!! Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2RT8V7R5PY1Q6 This thing is a "MUST HAVE" for any half-way serious cyclist. Day or night, it puts out amazing light so hopefully some dummy in a car wont run over you. Well worth the bucks. Great blinky, night AND day! I bought this light after seeing it on another bike during the middle of the day... the blinding flasher was visible even in bright sunlight! And at night, its killer good. Now that Ive got it on my bike I run it night and day. Its good on batteries, and even if it wasnt , who cares? For the cost of a couple of triple A batteries this light does a great job of increasing my visibility and keeping me safe. Bright Light Researched and have used many light but is light is great. Very bright and has a flashing cycle that makes those in view of this light take notice. Plan is to put one on each bike. Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash I ride my bicycle to work year round and I needed a tail light where I could easily be seen by motorists. I considered spending a few hundred dollars on a battery powered tail light but after seeing a review here on Amazon I decided to give the blinky a try. If the blinky did not work out I could always by the battery powered device. I have been thrilled with my decision. I bought two and use one on my helmet and one on my bike. A few friends who have seen me around town have commented as to how easy it was to see me from a distance. One friend commented that he thought I was a police car in the distance. I suspect that some day I will break down and spend the extra money for the $200+ battery operated tail light. But until then, I feel very safe and well seen in using the Planet Blinky. Bright and Visible even in Daylight I really like the brightness of the center blinking LED - it is extremely bright. I even use it during the day time to help me be seen as I ride the city streets of San Jose. I own two of these - one for each bike. I wouldnt be without it. It is easy to turn on/off, and it is not likely to fall off its bracket (like Ive had other tail lights do). You should get one too!!! Best Taillight Ever! I have experimented with several different taillights from several different manufacturers, and this one is, by far, the best. It has all of the advantages: it is very bright and highly visible from a distance, it uses standard batteries (which allows for the use of rechargeables), it is lightweight, and it is well-built. All of the taillights that I had tried before this one suffered from one flaw or another (they used watch batteries with limited duration, they were not well-built and were easily broken, would fall off easily, etc.), but this one does not appear to have any substantial flaws. Not cheap, but worth every penny! GOOD SCOOTER LIGHT This light works on my scooter as i must use it to shop and get outside. The small lights that came on it did not have me feeling safe . Now i feel better and i use the light for daytime also. not a "white" light flasher I got the Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash - (Clear / Black) thinking that it was a "white" light flasher so I could put it on the side or front of my bike. Turns out its just a different New color scheme for the Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash Tail Light Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash Tail Light. It has a red flash pattern, in Flashing red and steady red modes. Runs on 2 AAA batteries (included). Pretty good light. Use in conjunction with Blackburn Mars 3.0 Flasher Rear Bicycle Light and you should be set. Use a High Visibility ANSI Class 2 Safety Vest to be seen in the dark as well. GLoWEAR Class 2 Economy Vest, Lime, L/XL #21025 / 8210HL. Planet Bike Bicycle Tail Light Rack Bracket - 3108 night fishing on a very busy lake I use 10 of the Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash Tail Lights on my small row boat when I go night fishing on a very busy lake. Near dusk they work well and in darkness they are perfect for alerting fast moving speedboats, ski cycles and bigger boats to my presence. I use 2 when I Bike. I love the product. Use in conjunction with Blackburn Mars 3.0 Flasher Rear Bicycle Light and you should be set. Use a GLoWEAR Class 2 Economy Vest, Lime, L/XL #21025 / 8210HL Safety Vest to be seen in the dark as well. Cross Training Reflective Leg bands (pair) -Lime Planet Bike Bicycle Tail Light Rack Bracket - 3108 Very good rear light I use rechargeable Ni-Mh batteries in this rear light, but still it provides very good light, with 2xAAA 900mA/H it can run for at least 50 Hr with good visibility, after that the light becomes softer. I only use the flashing mode, just to be seen by cars. And it is very visible. planet bike "super flash" led rear blinker This product is by far the best rear, red light led blinker, that I could find. I use it during the day to increase my visibility. I commute approx 5 miles to work year round (my return home is in the dark) . Blinker has performed beautifully even in 10 degree F conditions. Excellent product. It is well worth the price! Great light!!! After years of commuting in the cold, dark, rainy days in Seattle, I found this to be the best rear light yet. I have two of them, on my seat post and seat stay. Not only are they super bright, but they also hold up to the mud, dirt and grime. The battery seems to last forever and its 100% waterproof. Would be a great safety addition for anyone from recreational rider to hard core commuter. All around great product! SuperFlash is bright So far it is a very bright light that I feel confident to have on the back of my bike. I purchased this light along with a cateye TL-LD610. I feel sure that the combo of these 2 will ensure I am visible for drivers from behind. I have seen other superflash lights on group rides & some of them are not that bright, but I think they just need new batteries. All in all a great product in my opinion. a MUST HAVE! the smallest brightest light ever..and half the price of REI. EVERY biker should have one! Best compact flasher out there.. I love this compact flasher. I have used a strap of velcro and attached it to my helmet for commuting at night and have been told by motorists that I looked like a x-mas tree. (well, that the whole point aint it ?). I commute a lot at night and have a couple of these that I attach to my riding backpacks (Deuter Race-X Air and Deuter TransAlpine30). Overall it does a much better job than my heavy and unreliable Cateye TL-LD1100 which it attached to my seatpost. The only beef that I have with this light is 1. The clip, it keeps slipping off. How difficult is it for the designers to put a little nipple at the bottom of the clip to prevent it from sliding off. I have lost a couple of lights. 2. I wish this light was not so expensive and used a 1 watt led. Planet Bike Super Flash Rear Light The best and brightest rear bike light. So bright, it may be difficult to follow a rider with one in a pace line. Well made, weatherproof, long-lasting, and easy to operate. Protect yourself from the drivers The half-watt extremely bright flashing led in this light is a real attention-getter. I have two mounted, one front and one rear. If its quite dark, I can see the flash reflecting from stop-signs more than 50 yards away. Ive been using them for twice-a-day rides lasting about 20 minutes each for about a month now; they seem to be pretty easy on the batteries. You need to occasionally ensure that its still securely held: the clip that retains it has a very tiny ledge that doesnt really do the job. This needs some re-design. If you need a rear bicycle light, look no farther I read the very positive reviews on Amazon before deciding to try the Planet Blinky Super Flash. I have several LED flashlights and I knew the 1/2 watt LED would be bright, but you have to see this to believe it. It is small and light and easy to install with several mounting options. I ride 4 times a week on public roads so I use this exclusively during the day on flashing mode. I dont think it is my imagination but cars give me a wider berth than before installing this light. My wife said she could see my flashing light over a mile ahead on a bright Arizona day. If you want to be really seen, then this is the only rear bicycle light to buy. Ive had it for over two months and Im still on the same batteries that came with the unit! Bottom Line - The Best I came across a video on YouTube with this rear bike light and just had to buy it. The unique flash pattern reminds me of emergency services (think ambulance) so you get noticed. i wanted to see how effective this light was so i had a friend ride my bike in front of my while I observed from behind. You would have to be blind not to notice this light. Ow! My eyes! This light is awesomely bright and life saving. I have to ride my bike on an industrial road to get to and from work. Believe me, I realllllly want to be visible at night on the way home. This light does the job, its amazingly bright and the trucks see me from way off, I can hear them slow down (which also helps calm my nerves on that annoying road). The bike shop could have sold me a more expensive light, they had them, and I was ready to plonk down the money necessary to stay alive on my daily commute. When I told them "I dont want to die on my way home", they instantly recommended this light. I am very, very happy they did. Best tail light for a bike. Period. This taillight is bright and will certainly catch the attention of motorists after dark. Watch out, though. Looking directly at the flashing light at close range could cause permanent retinal damage. You have been warned. great product! I am a bike commuter and in the winter lighting is important. The Planet Bike Super Flash is bright, seems to go forever, very visible, and reasonably priced. I use two of them attached to my backpack. Very pleased with this product! Fantastic! Recommended as the brighest light ever made. I was searching for a rear light that could be viewed for long distances. And it really does this. It isnt like other cheaper bicycle taillights that you probably meet in internet ("chinese models"). They do not guarantee visibility far from you. Forget about it. Think in your security, mainly if you are a night biker. Planet Bike Blinky Super Flash This is an excellent, bright, easy to use, and reasonably priced light. My only complaint is that I wish its mounting options allowed it to be mounted to the rear rack on my commuting bike. However, I feel confident riding home in the dark with this flashing behind me. Happy with purchase. The reviews on this light did not lead me astray. The photo is misleading as I too was expecting a big clunker of a light. It is about an inch shorter than my ipod shuffle, if you remember what those look like, and only slightly wider, perfect size. The blink mode is definitely an attention grabber. Comes with a mount for the seat post and seat stay. Slides onto mount and has a security snap to keep it in position. Dont know if Id trust it to stay clipped to a belt loop. Anyway, Im happy with the purchase. Light of the Night This is easily the best rear taillight on the market today. If you do much riding at night you should invest in one of these. Very visible Just what I was looking for! Its very visible, given how its lights flash in an asynchronized manner. Its easy to use and luckily designed so that it doesnt trip on by mistake. A home run for self powered tail lights. This light is the best bike tail light for under thirty dollars. Sure, there are bigger and brighter lights, but those always cost more and dont even touch the battery life of this light. Despite this lights size, it manages to emit a very powerful flash that can last over 100 hours. This light is even noticeable in daylight due to its flash pattern. Not only do you get Planet Bikes life time warranty with this light, but it is also a very well supplied package with multiple mounting options and included batteries. My only gripe with this light is the side angle visibility. At this price however, that might be asking too much of an already great light. You could always buy two and mount them at different angles if you were so concerned with sideways visibility. Awesome little blinkie Cannot believe how brightly annoying this little device is... i installed 3 of these in my mtb. I look like a christmas tree on wheels but it definitely helped a lot with my visibility while cycling the road. For the price, planet bike has a winner. Bright & Beautiful! It claims to be the brightest bike tail light in the planet... its not... its the brightest bike tail light in the universe! Its small yet super bright, I like the powerful flash pattern and that it comes with two AA batteries. I also like the fact that you could mount it varies ways - I enjoy running and biking (all in the morning before the sun rises) and I simply attach this light to either my shorts or by bike. You cant miss if you buy this product, I stronger recommend it. Second only to the DiNotte. I have used the Superflash since it hit the market last year. Planet Bike has definitely hit a home run with this one. Its very affordable, cheaper than the much-vaunted Cateye LD-100, but its brighter than everything but the DiNotte($150+). I use a Superflash on my seatbag, and one on the blinky strap on my Bell Metro helmet(another excellent product). Those two lights get me plenty of respect from motorists. If money is no object, buy the DiNotte. Its the best light available. 140 lumens of red flasher will get the job done. But using a couple of Superflashes is an excellent choice. Bright, attention getting, lightweight, affordable, and made by a company who gives money to bicycle charities. I love it. Blinding! Currently, I have four bicycle taillights in my possession, including the new Cateye Opticube. The superflash is by far the brightest. Interestingly, it is also the smallest and weighs in at a diminutive 53 grams. When I first opened the box, I was actually disappointed as I expected something 2-3 times as large. Planet Bike truly hit a homerun with the Blinky Superflash. With the incredible brightness of the main LED, this light is visible from a distance on a sunny day at noon. I havent seen anything like it. In addition to the sheer intensity, visibility is enhanced by an interesting flash pattern that combines two smaller LEDs to produce a Morse-code-like signal. As far as I can tell at this juncture, there are no design flaws with the Superflash. For my purposes, however, I would have preferred a larger clip for use on my backpack. Pros Extremely bright Small Built-in reflector Sturdy housing Cons Could use a slightly larger clip for attaching to a backpack (very minor) Too directional (i.e. not enough spread) more top-notch bike gear from Planet Bike I had to toss my otherwise serviceable Blackburn rear light when the brittle plastic mounting clip failed after about two years of use. Determined to purchase a quality replacement, the Planet Bike brand was the obvious choice. Like the well-worn Planet Bike headlight Ive been using, this model taillight is made from a durable plastic that resists cracking from normal patterns of wear, such as accompanies attaching and detaching lights from their mounts when parking bikes. Anyone who rides a lot in the city knows that leaving lights attached to parked bikes is a bad idea. Since the Planet Bike people are avid cyclists, their designs reflect this consideration and the result is durable mounting systems. It is also worth mentioning that this light is extremely bright, rivaling car taillights for visibility on dark streets. A very fine piece of gear from a company run by enthusiasts and definitely not the last item Ill buy from this company. almost blinded myself! Just got this taillight in the mail a week or so ago and I am still amazed how bright it is! I ride a Sun EasySport AX recumbent bike and the smaller of the 2 mounts fits perfect on the frame of the seat. Its easy to remove from the mount and clip on shirt, belt or pack. I was using another led taillight, unsure of the brand, and it looks like a dim nightlight compared to the Super Flash. There may be brighter taillights out there, though youd probably have to get one of those expensive battery-hogging strobes to do it. This is the only LED taillight Ive yet seen that even mentions the word "watt". If youve ever used a Luxeon LED flashlight, they start at I think 1 watt, well this thing seems about that bright! Although I havent tried it yet during daytime rides, Im pretty sure that it will be seen then too. Just dont look directly at it from close range. brightest tail lights you can get they are very bright so the idiots even in the police depRTMENT can see them at night. Brightest light ever!! This is the ONE light if you want to be seen at night. It is unbelievably bright. Dont get the one with the black back as that is an older model and no where as bright as this one. EVERYONE who sees this light gets one as it is the brightest theyve ever seen!! Great Tail Light!!! This light is bright! I purchased this to put on a second bike. My other bike has a Cateye LD600, which is a good light, but not nearly as intense as the Superflash. Very happy with this. |
