I did a lot of road bike riding then took a little break that lasted 6 years! When I came to my senses and got back on the bike, all my shorts had deteriorated except the most expensive -- the Pearl Izumi Field Sensor shorts. I bought these UltraSensor shorts with that in mind and have loved them. They are cool, look sharp and the pad is comfortable on a long ride. I dont expect any of my gear to last forever (except, I hope, my bike), but if properly fitted and taken care of, these shorts will prove to be more than worth it. (I borrowed the title of this review from a line out of a recent Hilary Swank movie -- think it suits.)
