Acceptable but not outstanding except for the color

Ill admit, I bought these for the color. I already had a pair of Pearl Izumi short attacks in black from spring of 2007 and they were getting some pilling in the crotch- time for a new pair. The chamois on this one is a little bit wider in the center and rubs me a little bit when I first get int the saddle, but not much and not for long. The grey fabric shows water marks pretty badly and the leg elastic doesnt lay flat against my thighs. They switched the grippers from a continuous band of silicone nubs to an inch wide strip of evenly spaced dots of silicone, which do a fine job of holding the ends in place despite the less form-fitting silhouette.

The fabric doesnt seem to stay as supple after getting wet as the normal black spandex, either- they can get sort of stiff after a night air drying on a tour but five minutes riding takes care of that. I have to say that if someone gave me another pair as a gift I would be happy, but I wouldnt buy them for myself again.

I bought a pair of these same shorts last year but in black. I love the dark grey color - nice to have something different. Pearl Izumi makes the best products. There is no riding up in the legs and the padding is perfect.

I bought these shorts for a century ride. After seeing them for $25 cheaper on Amazon than at the cycling shop, i decided to purchase them. They were great! i never felt any tug or chafing. great product
