Don't think about this one...just buy it     On: 2010-01-09

I was trying to get new, stiff, stubborn tires onto old, I guess slightly large rims. I could not pull them on by hand (and hurt my fingers trying). I pinched a few tubes trying. This solved all my problems. What a clever design.
Installs even the tightest tires with ease     On: 2009-12-24

This product is a must have for installing tires on rims, especially road bike tires. I purchased a set of Continental Grand Prix 4000s tires for my Shimano rims. After trying mightily to get the tire on the rim for literally hours with standard tire levers, I gave up. I picked up one of these online, and with amazing ease, I was able to seat the last part of the tire bead onto the rim. It was an absolute revelation. The only downside is that it is too long to fit into a saddle bag, so I end up having to carry it around in an extra water bottle. I hope they make one with a shorter handle some day. In any event, this tool is brilliant.
As noted by others - a simple tool for a simple job     On: 2009-11-03

Another reviewer described this as a simple tool for a simple job. Unfortunately, simple and easy are not synonymous - changing a tire on some tire and rim combinations may be a simple, but frustrating job. I use Vittoria Randonneur Cross tires on my fixie, so I rarely get flats, but when I do, I have an impossible time of finishing the tire. Ive broken multiple tire levers, pinched new tubes, and worse, have spent extra money having to pay a bike shop to struggle with finishing the tire (yes, theyve had the same problems as me).

This little gadget is a serious time and money saver! When I got it, I absolutely had to try it out, and yes, this really does work. Ive never struggled so much to change a tire on any other bike, but after testing this jack out, it looks like I may never need to struggle with tire changes on this bike either.
Ride Saver     On: 2009-09-13

Like the other reviewers have mentioned before - this tool makes easy work of mounting a tight tire on your rim. There is no danger in pinching your tube and giving you a flat like when you use a tire lever as the guy in the bike shop did when I went looking for help. After getting this tool, I can mount a tire in 5 minutes with little effort when previously it would take 1+ hour with worn out hands, blisters, and cussing up a storm. I have yet to need to mount a tire on the side of the road but I believe this tool will make it a piece of cake and get me back on my bike to enjoy my ride and not ruin my day with a flat. I carry this tool in my trunk on my rear rack but it could be velcroed to the frame or probably would fit in a large seat bag if you didnt have too much other stuff to put in it.
If you need it, this'll get it done     On: 2009-09-13

This tool is what you need to mount incredibly stubborn wire-bead tires. I got a set of Vittoria Randonneur Cross tires that just couldnt be put on by hand, and when I tried to use a tire lever to finish the job, I got pinch-flatted immediately. This tool worked on the first try (with some careful tucking of the tube) without requiring any extreme feats of strength in prying the bead on. Well worth it, if you need it.

Of course, you could also use folding tires that arent a [...] to mount, then you wont need any tool at all...
Kool-Stop Tire Bead Jack     On: 2009-09-11

The Kool-Stop Tire Bead Jack is really helpful if you have any hand issues. I am able to easily seat a tire on a rim using it. Ive had surgery on both hands for arthritis in my thumbs and Im always looking for helpful gadgets. I highly recommend this product.
Time saver     On: 2009-03-16

Pros: Really fast at tire mounting.
Cons: Plastic, may break. Tire levers were easier for removing tire.

I had some really tough tires to mount and gave myself a bad blister trying to mount them. It was good exercise though. Was able to mount the tire with this in a matter of minutes with little effort. I really should learn proper technique for doing it tool-less but sometimes youre in a hurry.
Thumb Saver!     On: 2009-01-17

This tool is just what you need if you have difficulty installing tight-fitting tires. Mechanics who change a lot of tires will really appreciate the thumb-saving value of this tool. Hands down this is my favorite kool-stop product!
Simple tool for a Simple job     On: 2009-01-14

This looks like a simple tool for a simple job, and it is. Unfortunately sometimes something that should be simple (like mounting a tire) can be an exercise in patients and determination. I have a very hard bead on my indoor training tire that is next to impossible to mount without heating/soaking the rubber and pre-stretching the tire. This tool made it a piece of cake! It took a minute or so to get use to how far to move the tool each time so it wouldnt pinch the tube, but after that the tire went on faster than I could mount a normal beaded tire. The tool is very sturdy and I expect it to last a long time. Deff. worth having one of these to keep around in your shop.
