![]() Burley Flatbed Bike Trailer By: Burley Design Average Rating: 3.0 Total Reviews: 2 More Information Very versitle trailer I bought this trailer to use with my electric bike. It can easily carry a couple of large rubbermaid storage tubs for carrying groceries or other purchases, so this combo is now my eco-friendly alternative to driving around town for short trips. Not having front or rear walls I initially thought was a drawback, but now find it very useful for carrying longer items (like my inflatable kayak)! The trailer is very lightweight, yet strong. The Burley trailer hitch system is very well designed and easy to use. While the trailer can be disassembled, I find that some of the lock pins are a bit tight and really not worth the bother. Fortunately, the wheels are very fast/easy to remove, so that makes the trailer "flat enough" for my storage needs. The floor of the trailer is the same "plastic-coated canvas-like" material as the side walls. While this keeps the weight down, youll want to add a firmer floor if hauling anything with unusual edges that might dimple the stock floor. Overall, very pleased with this trailer! Manual dexterity and common sense I spent 7 months camping out in Oregon with a $75.00 abortion from Wal-Mart. The end result of this extended bike/camp trip was the need for more room and easier access without having to fight the kids seat which formed an integral part of the overall structure of the Wal-Mart kiddy wagon. And, it leaked like a sieve. I bought the flatbed because Burley has a nice bag which fits. Putting it together was just a matter of snap here and snap there. A six year old could have put it together. So, when I go camping again, its just a matter of finding the tent package and get it up and then lift up the one bag and get it in the tent. By this time you know where you need your weight distribution. Plus, its a lot easier to find stuff and I think it probably provides less wind resistance. Buying additional bungee cords is essential for piece of mind because the two middle straps are a bit suspect as to their hardiness. Dont do it This was the worst purchase Ive ever made and I bought a thighmaster once. It falls apart after you spend the WHOLE day assembling it. |
