Good lock---but bracket is pathetic       rating
by:       on: 18-Sep 2009

I trust that whoever designed the bracket to hold this Kryptonite lock has been taken out back and shot. Not only is it an incredible pain to mount on the bike (presuming that you can even find a place for the 9.5 inch lock bar on most bikes), but once you've mounted it, getting the lock in and out of it for a "quick release" requires more effort that it might to steal the bike in the first place.

I'd suggest keeping the lock in the bracket and just chaining the bike to the lock---no one will ever get it out of the bracket to release the chain.

Kryptonite should send a written apology and a juice drink to every person who tried to used this bracket. The lock, I like. I can hardly wait for the bracket to break (it's doomed, I can just tell) so that I can carry it in my backpack or design a bracket that makes sense.

Great lock, bad bracket       rating

Durable. Heavy duty. Slim key. Long enough to fit around a pole with saddle bags still attached. But the mounting bracket to attach it to the bike is horrible. I haven't yet had any problems with durability of the mounting bracket as other reviewers have, but getting the lock in and out of it is a pain in the fingers and frequently results in me dropping the lock because of how much force is needed to remove it. And making sure it is locked into the mounting bracket is not the easiest thing either. To reiterate: great lock, horrible mounting bracket.
Worst mouning system EVER       rating

How good is this lock? I don't know, but I do know that I'm very likely to forget it because I can't mount it on my bike. Every u-lock I've ever had before went on my bike by just slipping the lock into a bracket and pushing a lever. This one has a cheap, cheap, cheap plastic mounting system that straps on (and undoubtedly UNstraps easily. It wouldn't fit on my new bike because a) the top bar is too thick, b) the brake cable goes under instead of on top of the bar, c) I couldn't mount it on the front bar because of the gear cables d) and it wouldn't fit ANYWHERE because the mounting system keeps it too far away from ANY bar and you have to have a LOT of room above it to be able to snap it on and off. FORGET about leaving your water bottle holder on. It won't even fit with it off. I guess it's not as bad as making a lock that can be opeed with a Bic pen, but COME ON guys!

This is a great lock. Nothing short of a small nuclear device will break it.
