Aegis is one of the pioneers of composites with its roots with carbon
fiber going back to the 1960s. They started with tennis rackets. In 1971,
they developed the methods, machinery, and tools capable of producing
a hollow graphite tennis racquet. As competition increased in the tennis
racket market, Aegis started building bicycles. They produced bikes for
Basso, Profile, Peugeot, and Iron Horse. In 1993 they introduced their
own frames and have continue development to produce some of the finest
composite frames available.
The 2002 Victory is the latest bicycle from Aegis. It has the same geometry
as the Aro Svelte with a lighter weight. This show bike had a mix of lightweight
high-end components.
