Specialized downhill bikes this year have what have a monocoque frame
that is called TransForm. TransForm technology is Specialized proprietary
monocoque forming process. TransForm technology begins with a computer
model that allows the engineer to optimize the shape and dimension of
an A1 clamshell monocoque. Once the design is complete, precision dies
and hydraulic presses are called into action to manipulate the flat sheet
into the exact shape the engineer created. With both halves formed, they
are then robotically welded, heat-treated and aligned. Two sheets of A1
alloy are "transformed" into the chassis.
The Bighit Comp uses the transform monocoque chassis, single clamp Marzocchi
fork, Shimano 545 pedals and Hayes hydraulic brakes were all selected
for their rock solid performance in an infinite range of conditions. The
rear suspension has adjustable geometry and adjustable (5.5 - 6.3"
/ 140 - 160mm) of travel. A Marzocchi Z.5 single clamp fork with 130mm
of travel and rebound adjust is up front. Specialized BigArm crank with
ISIS spline bottom bracket turn the wheels.

The Bighit DH is a race-ready downhill machine with 8.1 inches of ultra
supple FSR suspension travel from a custom-tuned Fox Vanilla RC shock.
The frame is a Specialized TransForm Monocoque with adjustable geometry.
A Marzocchi 7.5 inch travel Shiver inverted double clamp fork, Hayes hydraulic
brakes with 8 inch rotor, Sun Double Track 36 hole rims, a Specialized
tubular cr-mo crank and MRP World Cup chain guide.

The Enduro FSR chassis for 2002 has been redesigned to increased adjustability,
improved handling and significantly reduced weight. They have developed
with Fox a proprietary rear shock that, with a flick of the "ITch
switch" (integrated travel switch), is on-the-fly adjustable between
4 and 5.2 inches. The linkage and shock position lowers center of gravity
for increased stability plus full post adjustment. Triple-sealed cartridge
bearings at every pivot point mean smooth action and ultra-low maintenance.

The S-Works FSR-XC has a new, super light M5 frame that has been designed
with Specialized Optimized Radius Engineering (ORE) to optimize and minimize
material usage. Now with a full complement of cartridge bearings at the
pivots and titanium hardware all around. The bike comes with: Fox Air
Float RL shock, RockShox SID Race fork, and Mavic CrossMax UST wheels.
