The idea to build ZEM was catalyzed by Dr. Ruedi Frey's personal concern as a family father. After his daughters had learned to ride their own bicycles they occasionally tried to go on little tours. He was horrified: narrow roads, daughters wobbling on their bikes and cars rushing past. In 1995 in his spare time he started on ideas, drawings and plans. After long discussions a most promising and constructive solution was found which was not only interesting for families but also
for a wide range of people.

This is the new 2-seat ZEM sport model.

ZEM is available as a purely muscle powered bicycle and as a hybrid electric bicycle for four or two people. It is safe with its hydraulic brakes, 2-point safety belts, rear view mirror, steering lock. Plus no more risk of being overtaken!

The 4 comfortable, long distance-suitable seats and pedals are each separately adjustable. Vertical parking help you get into tight spots. The speed is comparable to standard bicycles, but with optimized energy efficiency and thus much greater range.
